My pleasure GB!! It seems he found a way to get that knife without paying for it after all!!
Ugh
I want something that I can't afford.......if I kick and scream and maybe cry enough.....I'll get it!!
Puleeeze!!

Right on me too

Amazing. You aren't going to turn anyone here off to Benchmade. I'm confident all of us have had an experience with their CS, even if it was only to request a new pocket clip and they are top notch. Good luck with the scam.

If benchmade wants to reconcile the situation then I'm done with them. No one affiliated with benchmade make attempt to contact me I will not respond.

Again my knife was already serviced. I already got my gift certificate as well. I will either sell it or give it away not going to add money toward benchmade. Selling my mini grip and disassociate myself towards benchmade and their consumers.

See y'all in the spyderco forums.

I think you are lying. You will go to your local knife shop and fondle the awesomeness that is benchmade and shed tears over your failed scam. Dreaming of the day when you are worthy.

Damn! We'll miss you.
I can't believe the owner of BM hasn't contacted you yet.

I'm surprised Mr. Pardue hasn't hand delivered a new BM51 Morpho on a silver platter by now, someone get this man a new knife for free stat. You'll be back, they always come back. On to the next con I guess.

Was it me I would drop your intent to travel to other sites to complain about something that should be considered a closed case. I would then ask our moderators to close this posting, enough time has been wasted on this conversation. And it will be a very cold day when I meet you on the Spyderco forums. IMO Benchmade's the better knife and has been my choice for many years.

Can't belive it's been taken care of per op yet lets stir the pot what a pos

For reasonable requests, BM's customer service has always been top notch for me whether it be a replacement clip, lifesharp service, or warranty service. They always send my knives back in better condition no questions asked.

Good riddance. Spyderco would do the same thing when threatened. Neither company needs a customer like you. For the rest of us, you cause the rise in costs. You got a free knife and then wanted another free knife. Might be time to stop smoking so much pot, playing video games all day, and move out. Get a job to earn your own stuff.

You don't get it Cray......he learned if he stamps his feet, cries & cries and holds his breath he doesn't need a job.....or get out of mom' basement.
How can you not see that??
Sheeesh.........it's sooooo OBVI.

Here's how I read the OP's story:
----------
Dad: Hey, son, I bought this Benchmade balisong knife new in 1985 and now I'd like to give it to you.
Son: Wow, that sounds great, Dad, but it looks kind of beat up. How 'bout I send it to Benchmade for you to see if we can get it repaired or replaced under Benchmade's lifetime warranty first?
Dad: Sounds good, son! I sure raised you right!
(Son sends knife to Benchmade)
Benchmade CS: Sir, this knife is damaged and under the lifetime warranty, but we can't repair it and are unwilling to replace it. How about we offer you $75 off MSRP for any knife on our website which means we actually make money off this deal instead of honoring your warranty. If you don't like that deal, how about we give you 30% off MSRP for any knife on our site, which will be probably higher than MAP price anyway so we will be making even more money off that deal.
Son: Excuse me, I just want the knife repaired or replaced per your warranty.
Benchmade CS: Too bad.
Son: I've had a negative experience and I'm going to let my online buddies know about it.
Benchmade CS: Go pound sand.

I certainly didn't read the statement about posting to BF as a threat or blackmail. Blackmail would be 'give me a new knife or else I'll tell everyone'. Deciding to tell everyone and then letting Benchmade know that you plan to do just that isn't blackmail at all; on the contrary, it's letting them know that you believe they are in the wrong and you're going to let others know about it as well.

I suppose everyone here just trusts benchmade to always do what's right. I like Benchmade as a company, I own lots of Benchmades. But they aren't infallible. If they make a mistake, it's up to the consumer to keep them honest. Free pocket clips are not the same thing as honoring a lifetime warranty.

It certainly isn't the OP's fault that Benchmade can't repair the knife, nor is it his fault that Benchmade doesn't sell $50 or $100 balisongs anymore. They should have offered him a free replacement of equal (or slightly greater) value. Not a $400 balisong, but maybe a Griptilian or something.

They did in the form of a $75 gift certificate which is slightly greater value than a $50, 30 year old knife.

I'm still curious if anyone can shed some light on what the Benchmade warranty was like in the mid 80's.
