Negative experience with benchmade warranty and customer service.

A new balisong knife. If the old knife was their 2nd cheapest balisong model back then give him the 2nd cheapest new model and walk away knowing they will most likely get good PR for it.

So exchanging items of not just unequal value but double the cost makes sense to you?

That has nothing to do with the BM warranty. The Busse warranty says you can do that with the knife. The BM warranty offers a replacement. Only a fool would think they would replace the knife with the same knife at this point and offering a replacement at twice the value only hurts the rest of us consumers. What would you have them do?

Doesn't hurt you at all. If any thing the casual reader would see that benchmade really goes above and beyond and maybe they gain a few more customers and generate more $. Instead they end up looking cheap and petty and turn off potential new customers. Issues like this are the reason I own only 1 benchmade.

Generally, yes, but it depends on the product. I have a lot of Craftsman hand tools. Assuming Sears is still in business 50 years from now, they sure as hell better replace my broken ratchet, whether my 80-something year old self brings it in, or my kids, or my grandkids, or whatever.

So what did the warranty say back in 1985? I know what it says now. There seems to be some ignoring of the fact that the kid isn't the original owner. Read the warranty. BM didn't need to do a damn thing for this kid. And once again, who knows what actually went down here.

One sided story. If Benchmade wants to open this they can.
