My biggest complaint with the Para2 is that it doesn't have Boobs on the handle, if it did I'd marry it!:emot-yarr:

Wait no boobs?!?!

the seller specifically said there were boobs on the handle, wtf. That's it right back in the mail it goes and I'm off to the GB&U.

I LOVE my Para 2. I carry it more than any other knife bar-none. A few negatives: The lock is a bit sticky and I don't like the shiny clip. Besides those few things, I am in love.

My first Spyderco, many since then and never without one. It's obviously not a tank, but completely serviceable and very light. I love the handle/blade ratio as it gives it serious control.

I guess if I was forced to gripe I'd say the G10 is very aggressive (while not exclusive to Para) and I have the pants to prove it!

I got the para 2 when it first came out several years ago. I knew nothing about it. I had it for one day and didn't like it and sold it the next.

fast forward many years until now and i have been reading and reading the priase of this design. After years of internet praise i am going to give it another try and i am going to buy another (Ialso heard there were design improvments) . . But something about the para just turned me off back then. Not sure what but maybe a combination of things.. For one i don't care for knives with big handle/small blade length combos. I also don't carry tip up 9one rreason I DO like the regular Millie) and the lockbar on the back of the grip just didn't feel right.

this is the para 2 i had owned for 24 hours before selling it. I thought I would never say this but i have been reading and drinking teh koolaid and am going to buy another one..

My only problem is the sticky locks(not really a problem).

I've owned 7 Para 1's, none of them had sticky locks, they were buttery smooth.

Both of my Para 2's have sticky locks. I still love this design though.

Your picture looks like a Para 1, the Para 2 has a larger lanyard hole, longer blade and a few other changes. They are both nice knives, but I like the Para 2 a little better.

Yeah - I was gonna say... where are your pocket-clip holes and why does the tang stick out like that when closed - that looks a lot like a Para 1.

The pocket clip covers one pivot screw and that's the one that's going to be loose. ;)

Easy to fix though.

Clich. Coming from another Beckerhead, I am also a fixed blade kind of guy and was very anti-Spyderco...until I got the Para 2. I was like you, I didn't believe that the knife was perfect and I didn't believe all the great things people said about the knife. I couldn't find a single person with something bad to say about it, and now I understand why. I've only had the knife for a day now and it's awesome. I wouldn't go using it to baton anything or extreme stuff like that, but it is a hell of an EDC knife. The ergonomics of the knife are actually perfect, to me. I was worried about the texturing of the g10, possibly too grippy or not enough, but it's actually right there in the middle. Perfect. Blade centered perfectly, no blade play any direction, and mine even came shaving sharp as a bonus. I got the black g10 with satin blade, if it makes any difference.

Brother, if you find something wrong with your's, let me know because I want to find it on mine, because I've been inspecting this thing for hours. Literally. One thing I did find, or maybe not find, is a possible small spot on the edge that's rolled. I'm not really sure if it's a roll or not, because now I can't even find the spot, but I'm sure I saw it a few hours ago. Anyways, good luck, man. I hope you like the knife. I know I do.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Mine will be here in a few hours so ill post pics and mt initial thoughts soon thereafter

There's one other negative that may not have been mentioned. So I have to warn you, if you get a para 2, you won't be content with one. ;)

When I first got mine the lock was a tad sticky. Not to worry,it just had to break in.After a few days it was perfect.

The para is by far my favorite Spyderco. The new updated one is so much better than the original imo. I think you will be pretty happy with it.

It took a bit for me to get used to the compression lock. It felt a little... backwards?... at first. The lock can also pinch your index finger when deploying the blade (as another member has already said) but this becomes less of an issue/annoyance the more familiar you become with the knife. I did not experience any blade-play, but the lock was a bit 'sticky' out of the box--it'll quickly smooth out with use. I didn't add any product to the knife to smooth out the lock disengagement; there were a few times that I had to use quite a bit of force to jam the lock over, but it held up without any damage and it's no longer an issue. Another small glitch I had was blade-centering. You could mess with the pivot and body screws, but I opted to slightly bend the entire frame. Mine's now dead-center.

If you're not too impressed by your initial impressions, I'd say that it's worth giving it some time. The Para 2 has become one of my all-time favourites.

Well, that explains it. See! I have been missing out!

How does the pocket clip come? Tip up right hand? That's how I prefer it so I hope so
