Nessmuks

What is the average blade size for a Nessmuk (not considering Koster's monster nessie :D )

Good question; I don't remember any specs mentionned in the George Sears Woodcraft document. Mine is just a tad over 8.5" (blade lenght of 4"). I'd like to know from the Nessmuk experts (please)...

Because of the typical usage of a Nessmuk knife my standard size is 8 1/2" overall with a 4" blade. I read somewhere that the actual Nessmuk knife had a 5" blade. I've always felt a 4" blade was a good all around size. The "S" shape of the entire profile of the knife is what to go by when reproducing as close to the original.

Thanks Scott! that means I was right "on" (whatever that means), just judging by the pictures!!! :D
Oh and I had to add: your work has been an inspiration! Thanks you so much!

Hey: lets' see more Nessmuk knives!

Thanks

Koster's Nessies look great, but I feel 5" is too much for a knife part of a Nessmuk set, just my feeling. I would get more something between 4-4.5", more around 4.25".

I want a new knife!

Personnally, I loved sooo much what Fiddleback posted, that I had to try the Nessmuk design; I made my "own" version of the legendary knife; take a look:

Lookin good!!! Thats some sweet pinwork there! Nice to hear of someone doing their own!!!

Talking about blade length, here's a 5" version I made for a customer a year or two ago. It's 9 1/2" overall.
