Never thought I'd...

IMG_2431.JPG IMG_2429.JPG IMG_2489.JPG NEVER ever would have even dreamed of spending more than $100 for any folder......no effing way!!
Well, that was almost exactly 2 years ago and these 4 were all bought the same week about a month ago.
I am hopeless!!
Also never ever thought I would ever make friends on an internet forum.
Really glad about that second 'never' being untrue!!

Never thought I would buy a 940 (blade tip thickness too weird)((((small little devil voice says "Just grind it"))))
but
that latest black and red one does call to me . . .
nah . . . I've bought my last knife . . . no more.
:)I think I will NEVER buy another knife.:)
;):p

HA!!! Wish I had a dime for every time I told myself that one WB!!!

Never thought I'd own a tanto blade, but I do now and understand just how useful they are.
Never thought I'd pay more for a knife than a gun, that's for damn sure.......I've fallen down that rabbit hole so many times I've started saying
"What's up Doc"

Never thought my wife would start wanting my knives. I've given her 2-3 of her own (a rainbow leek, manix LW and a Henkels). She has laid claim to my XL voyager tanto, my GI tanto and has begun to badger me about my black talon 2. I told her hell no for that one and she yelled at me saying that SHE doesn't have any curved blades. She then said, fine, then she wants my maxace redqueen. Another hell's no. So maybe there's a karambit or matriarch in my near future.

I was a teenager in the mid 80s when the pocket clip and thumbstud/hole made its way to the cornfields. I now "appreciate" traditionals right along side moderns. Didn't think that would happen

I never thought that the addiction would become so bad that I would feel naked without a fixed blade on my belt.

I never thought this would happen:

That isn't even all of them. I have one inbound, and two off for custom work. I'm not even exactly sure how many of them I own at this point.

This is all the more surprising to me given that on first sight I disliked the model. Handling it the first time left me similarly put off. Among the reasons I wasn't fond of it:
  1. The blade is too thick
  2. It features an opening hole that is all but unusable and pointless on a flipper anyway
  3. The stock scale is too rough on clothes and too baby-poop colored
  4. The stock clip sucks, and will actually spear through your jeans if you give it half a chance
  5. Its flipping action is fine, but not spectacular
After my wife bought me one, though, it grew on me. Sanding down the scratchy brown scale and adding a custom clip improved it, and the custom symmetrical slim LSCF scale and overtravel stop I added next took it to a seriously happy place for me. Carries small and light (under my preferred 4 oz) and, at least for my hands, great ergos. Sure the blade is too thick at the spine, but with a decently deep hollow grind and a little reprofiling effort to thin down the edge it cuts plenty well enough to meet my pocket knife needs.

The ability to get inexpensive custom scales for it is an added bonus. I can simultaneously carry my old favorite and still change knives everyday.

Another "I never thought" and the state of paradoxical "nutjobphobia":

I never thought I'd spend almost 8 Bill$ on a single fixed yet at the same time while browsing say Costco kitchen knives, I SMH and say under my lips, "I can't believe folks are paying $300 for that lot".

I reckon I have it in me to pass the $1K threshold soon. Who's in agreement with this nutjob here? ;)

Never thought I'd be having my own designs being produced. Never thought I'd become an internationally known specialist of American scythes, either--that one still surprises me constantly.

Not I

You won't pass the $1K threshold or won't I pass it? I don't have that much confidence in myself and my ability to remain restrained ever since I've started ogling over Alan Warren's Knives, or perhaps a badarse Dan Keffeler Sasquatch for my 55th ;)

I spent 3oo on a nl4 and I can't see myself doing that again. I have faith that you will break a g though
