New 0560 Carbon Fiber and CPM S110V Composite

I've never had a problem with either 14C28N or bead blast.

I had 2 Skylines in 14C28N with bead blasted finishes, and both of them got heavy rust spotting. Same thing with my Leek, which also has 14C28N, and my 2 black Blurs got rusting as well that you can almost see through the black coating. The only other steel I've had rust on me is AUS8A and 8Cr13MoV, and only with bead blasted finishes; the ones with stonewashed finishes don't have a problem.

Chris Reeve said that when everyone was doing bead blasted finishes on their knives in the 90s, he deliberately avoided that because bead blasting lays the steel right open and exposes it to the elements. I also think that a bead blast looks tacky. I just really don't understand why 14C28N was used, why not ELMAX; ELMAX has great rust resilience.

The only reason I was into this knife is for the CF scale, and seeing that now it has a bead blasted finish and 14C28N; I'll probably just get an aftermarket CF scale for my 0561.

Yes, well Chris Reeve says a lot of things. Are you saying that by extension, the 0560CBCF looks tacky? If so, I disagree.

Excellent, one more for us then.

Why not ELMAX? Because you don't cut with the spine, so why need a premium steel?
And I like the 360 price tag better than a 440 (total BS number) price tag

How do you use your knives, that they apparently rust all the time. It's just as humid, if not more where I live, and not even my carbon steels rust.

Man those look nice with the CF! I'm not usually a fan of BB but it looks good on the new 560 and compliments the Ti side well.

This is why I only take names in order received , because you can order 400 knives and only get 20, so to take credit card numbers and deposits, is a waste of time. They are not trying to deceive anyone, they are just doing business the best they can. There are just variables that are out of your control and you certainly can't keep everyone happy. I am seriously considering completely doing away with preorders on limited runs, or at least reducing the slots to a reasonable number , like 20 or so, instead of hundreds. We all do the best we can with the tools we have to work with, so calling someone a clown because they were unable to fulfill an order seems a bit harsh, just saying.

Did you even bother to look at the link? My issue is they are saying its "discontinued" "no longer available"?? Hmmm, some of the pics on this thread seems to dispute that. They don't seem to be "discontinued" "no longer available" to me. Why don't they just tell it like it is, "sorry we screwed up and want be getting any". I could take that better than telling me its "discontinued". KC has a well documented history of taking to many preorders for knives that want be out for months..they do that all the time. I had 1 on order from them now I'm to believe its been "discontinued"?? Not quite. They do have a good return policy and customer service but when it come to LE's and the way they do there preorders well IMO Sellers is fitting.

It is discontinued, it was a limited production knife. They produced all of them already and the final pieces are shipping out this week.

Bob, this seems like a personal matter and opinion. Everyone is entitled to those, however this thread is not the place to do so. If you feel you need to, I will direct you to the the good bad and ugly feedback sub forum. Thanks for the understanding :)

I also believe Dave's post was very polite and informative.

They're saying it's disco'd because it's a limited run. It was never a production knife (it was, but it wasn't. I'm having a hard time explaining), they're telling people that no more will be made,
And most of the CBCF's have been shipped out. Not necessarily received/sold, but shipped.

Yeah I get it, oh well, it is what is..

CB blades exist for 1 main reason. You can have a sweet @$$ supersteel as a cutting edge at a high RHC for awesome edge retention and cutting abilities. The spine of the knife can then be made out of a good alloy that is more cost effective and more flexible for the best of both worlds (you get hard cutting edge and flexible spine). This brings down the cost and makes it more obtainable. If it was elmax and s110V I can only imagine the moaning That would endure due to the increase in price. That is why it is what it is. Look at all the other CB blades Kershaw and ZT make, you might just find a pattern.

Nahh no reason for all that, like I said they do have a excellent return policy and customer service, heck the first knife I ever bought off the internet was from them..a Spyderco Manix 2..its all good..I'll go back and edit my post and take out the Clowns part..:)

Would be interesting to know if anybody gets a CBCF from KC though..

Wow, I can't believe panties are getting twisted over a very fine and well executed beadblast. This is easily one of the nicest production folders that I have ever bought, and I have bought a few.

I say pick one up in hand before you judge it.

I've had no issues with KC all with good experiences and I've bought several from them.

I had a 0560CBCF on preorder with them that I unfortunately cancelled after getting one from HoB. Next time I won't cancel just to see.
