New 14 run

I know Darren! In fact Frank’s Oily Creek bone might actually come in second then the DLT Tortoise.

Thank you Harry! I have to say that of all the #14s issued, this stag CC is far and away my favorite. Yes even more than the Tortoise shell, I know, but it’s just that well done. The Tortoise does run a very close second though.
Since we are telling secrets about which is our favorite or whatever :

Of mine the Lick Creek actually has the best F & F . Not a problem with any of them but the smoothness of the back of the spring and the liners was the best on the Lick Creek . I am very happy to have each one but the one I wanted the most was the Lick Creek . Was not able to get a TC , but you guys say they were very nice .

I can't argue with that :) I love that tortoise shell but some of the others turned out really special. It would be really difficult to list a top 5 in any kind of order. From my collection right now I think Frank's is my top favorite. The bone on my example is fantastic and perfectly imperfect (if that makes sense). The shield gives it life and personality right out of the tube. I plan to take Wilhelm on many adventures.
Lyle's is a classic I can't stop looking at it or fiddling with it. But the sleeper that I put right up there is my Dead Skunk. The shadowing and depth of that acrylic is mesmerizing and I'm glad there is no shield on that one.
I have a few more on the way still so my top 5 might shift around a bit :D

Forgot I even had this little guy until mentioned a couple of posts up so I dug him out of the safe and dark cold tube .
Almost put the old man on the block a couple a days ago :)
Still thinking about selling the old man ..

Yes, there are honestly too many great ones to decide which is best. I do agree with you Harry, that Lyle’s F&F is top tier! Bill did Lyle a huge solid, for the first stamped Lick Creek Cut. Maybe it was luck or it was discussed among Bill and the GEC employees, but either way it is a great one!

Holy cow! 100 pages so far on just one knife. Anybody know the total number of 14s of all variants produced on this run?

No...not technically. GEC won't release the exact quantities until next year perhaps. I took a wag at it based on several assumptions.
1. SFOs and clubs got 100 of each material
2. GEC releases were probably a few hundred of each material
I could definitely be off but this gives a rough guess. I'm not sure how many AAPK or the other clubs got and I am guessing at the GEC release quantities.
Anyway I came up with 3600-4200 total produced somewhere in that range.

Top 5 is tough and so subjective
But I'll throw mine out there just for fun

1). The TC Barlows (both)
My ebony is perfect in every regard

2). Lyle's SFO
I don't have one but they look amazing

3). Barry's smooth Autumn
My only reserve, had to have it!!!

4). Cobblestone
Just something about the color and jigging is cool

5). Kifer's SFO
The ebony and propeller shield are gorgeous together

I love my Cripple Creek in Elderberry, was wondering if anyone knows why they didn't do matchstriker pulls on these? Possibly just to small?

I have a Lick Creek, so it's my favorite, but that stag you have sure looks sweet!

Thank you very much r8shell r8shell for the very kind words . The Stag is pretty sweet , but I have a bunch of Stag and only 1 knife that has LICK CREEK on the tang . I feel real good about having a total of 8 First Runs in the 14's . 2 Northfields , 1 Stag , 2 Cripple Creeks , and 1 Lick Creek . Plus 2 of the Very First Run in Ebony and Red Jigged Bone . Many people will have more , but I am OK with what I have and the Lick Creek is # 1 of them . Sorry about an old guy rambling on & on .

Harry

Guessing I'm in the vast minority here, but I don't care too much for the CC shield. That CC natural micarta looks sweet, but I'd much prefer it without the shield. It would just look so clean!
