New 14 run

lets not be hasty, really need one of each in hand to compare.

weight will be very close due to barlow bolster.

i am reserving judgment!

I just scored a smooth white bone TC Barlow on KSF drop. I think the TC’s literally sold out in one minute.

Crazy.
Actually I was sitting for 1 hour before 3pm and right before 3pm and for 20 min after 3pm the site went into overload and I got NO connection.. KSF went into overload.

Next time I won't even try.

What was the price on these on KSF today anyway? I guess unless you are able to connect at 3pm it never said.

(never mind. Someone PM'd me the price)

You guys should try for some limited Art Prints from time to time... :D Google some prints by Chuck Sperry. Those posters drop for around $150 and within a minute they are sold out and on sale at Ebay for astronomical prices. The last poster I scored is worth well over $700 right now.

Anyway, I was already logged in at KSF and logged in with PayPal so I wouldnt have to go through that process. At 2:58 I started hitting the F5 key (Refresh Page). Once I seen the knives pop up I was able to snag the Ebony and Smooth White bone, no problem.:thumbsup:

These types of drops are always a gamble. Win some, Lose some. Thats all part of the fun to me.

EDIT: Btw, This is the first #14 Barlow drop that I have ever 'won'. Im super excited to check these knives out!

I saw the email but had a meeting during the drop. Small runs of popular knives are always a mix of elation and ennui. Best to enjoy the good fortune of non-flippers!

I had one of the TCs in my cart right at 3:00, and was feverishly checking out... I hesitated ever so briefly to ponder the cost... but it was enough for it to disappear from under me by 3:01. I guess that was my sensible side telling me the two 14s I already got were enough (if not too many). I hate getting caught up in the mad rush for something I don't need... but find myself wanting to go there too often.

Anyway, congrats to those who got one, they look nice for sure.

I just couldn’t pass up a smooth white bone TC Barlow. I knew I would regret not buying one, and most likely never be able to afford one on the secondary market.

I kept my 14 purchases to just three knives. Many hard choices, but I got the ones I really wanted.

Couple pics showing the label front and back.

I vote one of each! :)

Chief Chief - how’s the walk and talk on your TC’s?

Only have one from this run so far, with an ebony on the way. On my only example, the talk is slightly subdued compared to the average 14 from this run. I think that is because of the larger bolsters absorbing some of the sound. The walk is in the center of the range of the dozen plus 14s in my possession. They all benefit from a couple drops of Quick Release oil and some break in, this one's no different. My non SFO ebony has one of the best walk and talk of the lot, and it was the lowest priced! It arrived with a small scratch on the blade in just the right light :( but for the price it will be a perfect carry. My Kifer sings! Walk and talk so nice many custom makers would be proud to have their name on it. Hat's off to the folks making these at GEC.

I really love the pull weight on these. Walk and talk is exceptional.

I think Lyle's knife was the pick of the litter this time. No offense to Charlie.

Hard to say, man. The quality on these barlows rivals the first few runs. Nicest barlow they've made in a while. Ebony is on the way and will probably have slightly more high end/musical walk and talk than the bone, as they often do.

Looking nice! How's that two blade comparing to the barlow in hand?

JTB_5 JTB_5 With the size of these knives being what it is, there's not that much difference. The barlow has all the heft right at the fingerpoint, and the thickness flares out a little down at the butt. The Lick Creek has more weight at the back with the endcap, so it feels a little more balanced and light at the front. That makes a bigger difference than the thickness, because it isn't that much thicker enough to overcome the size of this knife in any appreciable way.

Thanks! I don't think I'm going to try for one in ironwood, even though I expect them to look great and have good action like the rest of the run. They sure are beauties, though!
