Guys & Gals,

I have just been informed that GEC will release slipjoints with the Cripple Creek and Three Legged Buffalo shield originally produced by Bob Cargill.

This is the 1ST of more to come very soon. A (3) blade Equal End(cigar style) Stockman in Stag scales..

Wow! I've always loved the Cripple Creek mark and Bob's knives. I never had the chance to get them, when they were readily available. I'll have to put these on my list of must haves. Thanks Anthony.

Looks like these will be a nice run of knives. I've always wondered something. Maybe one of you might know. Are the matchstrike pulls stamped in rather than cut in?

With all of the ressurecting of old trademarks that goes on, I have been predicting that the Cripple Creek brand would be bought by somebody and make a comeback. I'm surprised that it took this long.

Any ideas as to who currently owns the trademark and who is commissioning GEC to make these?

I think the matchstrike pulls are stamped in before the heat treat.

I hope Bob Cargill is getting something out of this.

I would be very surprised if he gets anything out of it. I don't think he owned the trademark any more.
He was very hard to locate, but I did make contact with him a few years back only to be asked not to make any further contact him by his daughter. I was having good conversations with him. They are very protective of him.

I don't know what the size is of the cripple creek, but it sorta looks like this. I own this pocket knife (not my picture). It is 1095 if I remember right and is a terrific knife -- a little over 4". I think the two are fairly similar.

I found a link to Bob's website created this year. Still be made as it looks.
He does have a link from the "History" button that goes to his old website (with a few pop-ups :) nothing major )
that tells part of his story in his own words.
I found it to by quite an interesting read. You may as well.

That knife is beautiful and you can see some pics of the original and others through
both his old and new website.

Very nice! And in one of my favorite patterns. Now who has them or will have them available?

Mr. Bill Horn for now. But he does not have very many at all so you had better order up quick.

Anthony

p.s. [Other than being a friend of mine I am not affiliated with Bill Horn in any way. Just passing on the information as requested.]

There will be several patterns to come. Some by GEC, some by Queen; it will be obvious when you see them..

The one pictured is the same as the GEC Cuban except I hear the current planned production will all be 420HC regardless of maker.

Don't know for sure, but would place my money on Smokey Mountain and/or Blue Ridge holding the rights. Thus they will be readily available as the production ramps up.

Is the Cripple Creek Mark On the main blade, a ink stamp or etch? I wouldn't mind having a Stag scale covered one in that pattern if it was an etch...

I don't remember a Cripple Creek pattern, in that GEC 54 Pattern.. I thought they might revive Bob's Old patterns.....
