New 2015 ZT lineup

Yep. On the other hand, their packaging still says "Proudly Overbuilt in the USA". Seems to me they're going to have to change their messaging if they're going to release the pigeons of their past. (Maybe "Boldly Built in the USA" would be more in keeping with their current direction.)

At a certain point we're getting just a tad nit picky...

I think they switched from Elmax because they couldn't get the heat treat right.

Assumptions are often inaccurate. Elmax is on back order. Alternate options had to be used be used to keep production moving.

KAI's volume demands might be the greatest in the biz.

Love the new Zts but i hate those new pocket clips! Anyone think that the hole pattern is made the same to the old deep carry clip so that it can be switched out?? I much more prefer the deep carry clip.

It'll switch out. I plan to do just that.

I think they switched from Elmax because they couldn't get the heat treat right. Not to be a negative nancy but I had high expectations for ZT's 2015 line up, I felt a little underwhelmed.
But they did get it right..... i LOVED the elmax on my zt0801!!

I hope the 0900 means more collaboration with Les George. That would be awesome. Don't they usually do new designers in a line as a limited? Seems unusual that Les George's first ZT knife is going straight to mass production.

So far my must have list:

0452CF #1
0450 #2
0900 #3

I just spent a bunch on a kingdom armory mini samaritan and a TSF beast and now theres the 0900 and the 0630 Not to even mention having wanted to get the 0392....And i had just decided I might want a 0350....My wallet is crying from the abuse...

0450 and 0452CF should soothe the pain of the 0454 for me. So much for them saying they had no plans for a production version.

lol, that "no plans for a production version of the 454" crossed my mind too. that said, I'll be adding an 0450 and 0452CF to my collection. Already have an 0454.

Rick's first ZT was the 0550, Todd's was the 0801. SiDiS is the only designer I can think of who's first design for the company was a LE.

To be fair they aren't making a production 0454...that was a dual carbon fiber scaled subframe lock...the production version is a Ti Framelock.

I think that depends on the maker and his or her standing in the current market. Take the diskin models for instance. None of them had limited editions or even anything I would call high end.

I agree there are enough differences that you cant really call it a 0454. And even if it were, the past has proven that there is a proper time to let the cat out of the bag. We have no idea when these knives came to fruition and they have no obligation to tell the public until they are ready. So when they said there was no plans, even if hinging on a technicality, it wasnt a lie. And given we are looking at a six month time frame before we will even see these start to trickle out (and even that is an approximation) Id say these may not have been in development for very long.

For all intents and purposes the 0452CF is the production version of the limited edition 0454 even though it doesn't have the subframe lock. ZT's own 2015 catalog says this about the 0452CF: "It’s a simplified version of our award-winning 0454, designed by custom knifemaker Dmitry Sinkevich.". Additionally, Jim McNair in the videos says as much. Even the dimensions are pretty much the same once you account for the lighter weight of the full CF. Anyway, it's nice to see the 0452CF. It's a slick, long and quality flipper that's priced right.

Flippers and more flippers..... :(

I'll always love the 0350 design (without the Speedsafe installed), but these new ones just don't do it for me. I'm in the minority it seems, as ZT has a big following because they cater to industry trends and have expanded their lineup to a huge number of designs from when they were first introduced. They're selling a lot of knives and people have a positive opinion about the overall lineup, so they're doing something right.

The 0630 is very cool and hope they come out with a carbon fiber limited run, maybe with some different steel too.

In the catalog, in the description for ZT 0900, it says: "Zero Tolerance’s KVT ball-bearing system makes it as easy to open as assisted. No springs involved". So, why bother with assisted opening then...

Back when Thomas W graced us with his presence, he addressed this several times. Bottom line - A/O's sell better. My guess is that most BF members would prefer manual, but Thomas and KAI know their market. I'm just glad they offer as many good manual options as they do.

ZT 0450, 0808 and 0900:
