Are those 25 offerings it for the whole year? If so, I am completely underwhelmed. Haven't those Tantos and the Taipan been available in one form or another for many years? Boriiiing! However they did throw me a tasty bone in the form of the 6" blade Luzon. The price also seems to recognize that not everyone has drunk the koolaid in regard to expensive steels. I'm completely happy with the steel they chose. However only one new XL folder release in 2018 along with only one new XL folder release in 2017 makes me wonder if Cold Steel is still committed to the XL folder market.

I REALLY hope that its not the full list of new items for 2018.

Who cares of a cheap backlock with a safety after trying tri-ad lock (even a cheap one tri-ad lock).
After all the bashing on the Net for using 4116 seeing that 8Cr13MoV sh#t....come on.
Make it 5$ more and use that american made BD1!
I had hopes on you guys.

Anyways thanks for saving my budget!

I can understand how many of you think this showing is underwhelming but the return of the San Mai for the tantos is a big deal. The use of 3v on these knives has been great but there are a lot of people out there that want the San Mai Satin blades of years past. So much so that they go for ridiculous amounts of money and are increasingly harder to get your hands on these days. Its a different steel and a new hollow grind, but this is the chance a lot of people have been hoping for. Not to mention a lower price. I am for sure going to grab some

Yeah, I was excited for the 2018 offerings, but nothing here interests me. I really wanted the AD10 to get the 4Max treatment. At least there are 7 new pairs of gloves and a hat....

It seems to be a new knife industry trend of cutting back the number of new offerings.

Plus some companies are in the process of switching to more of a "rolling release" style:

People want to get new products faster instead of waiting a few months or more.

Is the large Luzon really 9.8 ounces? That's heavier than a large Espada or a 4max!

That being said, at that price, I may still pick one up to play with despite my dislike of liner locks.

Bush Ranger for sure. I sort of like the push dagger too, but I have several already and they're not particularly practical, so I'm not sure. Where the hell is my XL Tuff Lite!:D

^ +1 on the bush rangers, I'm surprised about the one that's got the 8cr steel made in china . wish the steel was cts-xhp instead.I think they evened the score with fallkniven with the san mai blades in vg10 now...

Last year a Canadian dealer commissioned exclusive runs of the Recon 1 with uncoated S35VN blades.
So maybe we'll see more dealer exclusives.
I figured we'd get a special run of the Voyager XL clip point. Since we got the tanto and the vaquero in the past two years.

I'd be all over that Storm Cloud if it had a clip point.
:) I believe that the "American Tanto " modified as in the earliest CS Tanto's was a key to the company's success (Along with San Mai and Carbon V )and maybe they just want to appeal to the core fan base ? Just my WAG . o_O

Not possible if the price point is $20 to $25 , which seems the purpose of this knife . If done right this steel should be near equal to the old AUS8 .

Maybe the SR1 and maybe the SRK, nothing else is interesting at all. Waiting on cold steel to use the scorpion lock, or make a halfway decent replacement for the models they discontinued at the beginning of 2017.

As a Cold Steel fan... This is a big ole goose egg for me. I'm not interested in any of them.

That's ok though. There's plenty of models I haven't bought yet from 2017.

I do still want Voyagers in XHP, but please don't "upgrade" the handles. They're perfect.

I've wanted a Tai Pan for a while, but I don't think I can bring myself to buy one if it's not made in Japan.

San Mai Knives
Seven Cold Steel fixed blades will now be available in their San Mai laminated steel configuration. These knives feature a hard cutting core of VG-10 clad in a protective outer sleeve of softer steel. Five are tanto blades – the Master, Recon, and Magnums II, IX, and XII. They appear alongside the Tai Pan and clip point SRK in the new for 2018 San Mai fleet. According to Thompson Cold Steel is moving all San Mai production except for the Trail Master Bowie from Japan to Taiwan due to industry changes. “The rest of our San Mai products will feature the same quality Japanese steel but will be made in Taiwan now, creating savings that I am pleased to pass on to my customers,” he says

I don't know about the new San Mai Tai Pans, but the 3V version, which is made in Taiwan, is of excellent quality. Hopefully the new San Mais will be as good or better!
