Agree 100%. My family watches it every Christmas. I even got a VHS of it and watched it when I was living in Japan in the late 90s. I LOVE THAT MOVIE!

Success isn't necessarily an indicator of quality. I'll remind you that for some unfathomable reason, Nickelback sells a lot of records. Successful, but bloody atrociously awful.

Thanks for the apology and no problem. In hind sight i do have a low post count so maybe it looked like i was just trying to make trouble.

I did hear back from Survive. They have always been quick to reply to my emails. They said that the Cru Forge got a little less hand finishing because of the Cerakote but they tried to hold it to there same level of finish as all the others. They apologized and offer a refund if i wanted to return it. I wont do that unless it is for a exchange or something. I will l probably just take it out and use it and forget about it.

rc51kid, Survive! should hire you to be the QC specialist! Wow. I received one of the pre-production CruV samples to beat on, and after seeing your pics I just HAD to check the jimping:

Definitely some irregularity, I never would have noticed without having had it pointed out. :thumbup: Of note, I didn't see anything like this on my new 5.1 and 4.7 (both 'firsts' in 3V). Had these been 'traction-coated', it wouldn't even show up. Go figure. The cutting of the jimping is done, iirc, at the contract heavy machining shop, which indicates that this is yet another aspect of either hand-finishing or QC triage that S!K has to do. I wonder how many blades they actually kick back to the manufacture vs fix themselves? For example, were my 5.1 and 4.7 in 3V perfect from the machinist, or did someone at S!K have to fix them prior to blasting?


Anyway, anybody still waiting on a 4.7, starter/pre-order/pre-sale/second/Betty/etc.? I think they said that all starters had shipped, October saw a big up-tick in shipping notices and November is the month that Ellie said would feature another (at least that's how I read her comment), so I am looking forward to tomorrow's "First Friday Production Update". :thumbup:

Man you just know that's the kind of thing that drives Guy NUTS. We handle all of our customers' resharp in-house, and it goes off mostly without a hitch. But anytime we have to outsource, like to build custom roundsaw blades or log heads where the bodies are machined by others, those jobs better have all the i's dotted and t's crossed or they WILL bite you in the butt.

Cripes... now my own brand of OCD (curiosity more that anything) will cause me to go look over my knives to see if this is the reason for their demotion to Seconds. I've never been able to spot the blemish otherwise.

In response to your question, Chiral, I'm still waiting on a 3V 4.7 pre-sale that I ordered back in, I believe Dec. '15, or Jan. '16. And starting to get discouraged. Mainly because it is seeming that the 4.7 cycle is coming to an end, I'm hearing crickets from S!K on my order. And I have lost my order confirmation, as I have transitioned to a new email provider since then, and some of the emails I tried to transition over didn't make it. A couple of my early S!K orders being casualties (4.7 in 3V, 4.1 in 3V). And the worst part is, I hadn't set up a S!K account at that time, so I can't recover it that way either. It's gonna suck if I don't get those orders and can't claim them. Probably be the straw that broke the camels back that makes me cancel about $1,000 worth of orders that I DO have proof of if that happens. This 4.7 evolution has been trying.

Wow ^ that truly sucks. At least you've got leverage in the form of the other $1000 worth of orders I guess.

Also even if you can't pull up an order conf, can you at least find a transaction to show them in your financial records?

Just checked my S!K account and both my 2.7 and 4.7 don't show up there. Still have my confirmation emails though thank God. Good luck. I'm sure it will work out.
