New beater knife, what should I get?

Just buy the Sebenza. Don't worry about the money, instead, think of it like this. You give them worthless US dollars that are backed by nothing, printed out of thin air and give away to millions of people for free, and in exchange you get an extremely well built knife. Sounds like a deal to me! 😁

Yeah, i dont spinewhack every knife i own but the ones that i use a lot i do
I'm curious about your logic. Is there something you do with the knives you use a lot which makes spine whacking relevant?

Does it matter to you if the knife "fails"? (I'm assuming that you do that to see if it does; but what do you do with that information?)
I have a knife that know would fail if I whacked it like that. I know because I can close the knife without unlocking it...but I still use the knife.

My beater is a 35 year old Buck Ranger, so I guess I have a different idea of a beater.
Beater=Heavy user knife you use without worrying about your instagram account. Something needs cut, cut it. Something needs opened open it. Something needs dug up, dig it up. Random tree needs stabbed, stab it.
The secret is using a knife made for it and the Hinderer was. Designed from the ground up as a heavy user “Beater”. Or you can go the route of cheap crap knives but life is too short for cheap crap knives.

Find a classic full Ti Spyderco Military. Will have T6 scale and clip screws and T10 Pivot, but maybe you can live with that. Or replace the T6 2-56 with T8 screws from TiConnector, for instance.

I'd imagine something from Kizer would fit the bill. Lots of blasted Ti and S35Vn with flipper and thumb stud options. I'm not sure about washers though, as most seem to have bearings.

It may not be the biggest issue ever but i want to be able to carry my knife with confidence, also the lockup isnt the only issue i have with it, bunch of stripped screws, bladeplay in all directions, the clip is bent so the knife is just hanging there in my pocket loosely and the list goes on. Also i might still use the thing if it wasnt my most carried knife, and if it wouldnt have to stand up against hard use (not abuse, but hard use)

This is a clear miss for you, but reminded me. I was in Home Depot recently and saw a Milwaukee folding hawkbill for about 12 bucks. Longtime Milwaukee power tool user, but their hand tools always seemed like kinda an afterthought to me.

Anyway, I didn’t buy it, but if I had, I think I woulda bought two. One to beat to breakage, and the second to beat about 90% that hard and see how long it lasts.

Might still. The things you do when you’re bored.

I had a pair of cutproof gloves from Milwaukee fail on me, so I'm asking them for their Fastback knife, instead, cause they are known to do stuff like that. Curious myself to see how it'll hold up.

You should buy that hawkbill.

Two things:

(1) I need to recalibrate my understanding of the term "beater knife."
(2) I need to learn to just not react at all when someone mentions spine whacking (unironically).

Other than a Sebenza, a Benchmade 761 would probably suffice if you can find one for sale. I think of the 761 as the "Benchbenza" or "Sebenmade."
