New Becker prices!

Am looking forward to a new 14 with some blaze-orange scales.

I'm thinking about that too but I am having a problem warming up the the little hole at the end of the handle. I figure by the time it releases I will be over it. :)

Meh...I was guessing they would come in around the cost of a BK2 anyway. I figured I would set my standards there, and now I'm not disappointed. I graduate from school in April too, so I'll be sure to remind my wife, parents, sister, friends, coworkers, etc. that BK&T is always an affordable gift option for me! Hopefully I'll land all 3 and not have to spend any of my own jangle...

Here's to wishing.

Any possibility that the tweeners are being released at the same time as the Machax, and that the 4/1 release date is just a cruel April fools joke?

it was a typo. the actual date was 1/1 - they released 200-400, you didn't get one? :)

I like the Machax, the BK16, and the BK14 handles.
The prices are fair, not great.
You can buy a Esee 4 for $85. With this you get blade, micarta, and kydex.
A BK16 costs $65. Then you add micarta, lets say $30, and a kydex sheath, lets say $35. This is a $130 knife.

With that being said I will still buy a BK16 because I don't have to buy the micarta and kydex with each and every knife I buy.

I can't believe the complaint on price...it's craziness!;p)

You my American cousins have it good!!

I agree.

I have literally bought NINE Beckers during the last 4 months and the total cost of them was less than what 3 higher end factory knives would cost that are built no better.

Frankly I feel anyone who whines about the price of Beckers cant really afford a good US made knife anyway.

Nice US MADE toys cost real -$$ get over it.;)

Yep and IMHO, with the Esee 4 you still have a shorter bladed knife with a poor handle design.
The Esee handle design is inferior even if they made them from Carbon fiber, they still suck And not everybody loves their Kydex sheaths.
At $83 it's no bargain either.

I think people (like myself) are just noting that the prices are not as "bargan" as they usually are on the rest of the Becker line. Pretty much everyone has said that they feel its fair for what you are getting, but maybe it isn't feeling like as good of a deal (on paper) as the other Beckers. Its not that they are a bad deal, we're just used to be bit more... "value" (?) perhaps.

I understand these are new blades, so the price might come down eventually. I also understand that these come with an apparently very nice sheath (haven't checked it out in person, but many say its great) and two handle scales. I also understand that they are the dream knife of Mr Ethan Becker, and that they'll all be great.

I do think it would be nice to cut the costs somehow (including only a certain handle color maybe?), but as it sits right now, I think they are very fairly priced compared to their competition, and thats really all we can ask for when it comes down to it.

Now, if they were coming out at the MSRP price on the street... then there would likely be an uprising :D.

I'm a fan of ESEE handles so $85 for an ESEE-4 is a smokin' ass deal. Those guys put together a really sweet package. In fact, someone PM me where to find a 4 for that price :)

However, I'm completely satisfied with the prices we're seeing on the new Beckers including the tweeners, especially considering that these are probably slightly high because of early-adopter-bonage plus you can always save 4 or 5 bucks per unit plus 8 or 9 for shipping 'in the jungle'. $60-ish to your door for a well-designed bushcraft knife with an apparently excellent sheath and cool scale color choices and a great warranty is really a very good price. It's not some smokin' deal... you would want to look at KA-BAR's Heavy Cutting Tools line for that. The KA-BAR kuk to your door for less than $41... now THAT is kind of insane.

My point was for $20 more you get Micarta and a kydex sheath.
I don't think the price is to expensive, just stating a fact.

For a design Ethan has been designing for several decades... I'll pay that price no problem. I'm sure they may go down eventually, but I don't know about you guys, but I am getting all 3 eventually!

(and backups of my backups of that BK15)

I get what you're saying trailbum. However, I think that these new sheath aren't going to be a "throw-away" like many of us consider the stock sheath for the 5/7/9.

While I do think ESEE provides excellent stock sheaths I like a quality nylon sheath too (like spec ops). Of course if you have a personal preference for kydex, or a hatred of nylon sheaths, then the quality of the new sheaths means little.

Sarah: (for about the seventeenth time since the film started) That's not fair!

Jareth: You say that so often. I wonder what your basis for comparison is.

Price seems fine to me. Ready to spend some money on these bad boys. Where do I go? ;)
