New Benchmade Blackwood 610

It will be worth the wait, Andre. I'm surprised that this knife hasn't created more buzz. I know there is no such thing as the perfect knife, because everyone's needs and preferences vary, but this thing comes close for me.

It's very large, but it rides in my pocket much better than the Manix. With the Manix, nothing else will fit in my pocket, including my hand. The RUKUS opens smooooothly and easily. Solid lockup. Centered blade. A weight and feel and fit and finish that speaks of quality. Excellent ergonomics. Seriously sharp blade that cuts effortlessly -- enough to put the Skirmish to shame. Plus, it looks way better in person than it does in photos.

The only downside is that it says "First Production" on the blade. I'm afraid to use it. Thanks to NGK for fast shipping and a great price.

I got to handle one of these at a local knife store. I talked to the clerk for a while and we hit it off, so he went into the back and got a roll-up of his own personal knives, which contained a 610.

It opens and closes with nothing more than a thought, as to be expected with the Axis lock and a lot of blade weight. I think the scales look a lot better in person than in the pics.

But I do not like the handle shape (visually). I do not mind the "boring" blade sharp, but I don't think it fits the handle shape. That blade shape on a different handle would appeal to me more.

The handle feels good in my hand, but sticks out too far behind it.

I think it is a great knife, but it isn't at the top of my list in this size and price class. I do think it is very unique, though, and I think I will end up getting one some day.

Merry Xmas to you Andre. You will love the 610. Mine has grown on me tremendously. It's definitely a beefy knife.

Bill of US$ 100 of taxes too.

FINALLY !!!
IT'S HERE !!!

What a great knife !
The green on the handle is green indeed.
The blade is centered, razor sharp (that's new to me - most of my BMs came far from good from factory). Flicks great, locks great !!!

Mine is no. 704/1000.

Thanks Mary Beth ;) !

I'll try to post my impressions later.

Regards,

Andre Tiba - Brazil

Mine is numbered 850/1000. I find it carries far better than I thought it would. It has alot of handle but IMHO the blade to handle ratio is not that bad. I like the feel of the handle much better than the Skirmish. Mine was brutally sharp out of the box.
