I love that knive. Definetly a must have!!

I almost can't stand waiting for it to be available over here...

Okay, forgive the crummy pictures but I'm at work and all I have is a 6 year old Mavica handy.

Here's various shots showing the girth and construction of this beast. Enjoy!

Woohoo!! Cant wait till mine gets here. I ordered one from NGK as well. Here's hoping USPS delivers fast so i can sit at work for the next 3 days flicking and closing a new BM. gotta give those omega springs a workout.

Just call NGK about an hour ago and they had a couple left, so I scored one also. Very excited about this knife.:)

I love this knife. Ok, the blade could be a little more exciting but I wouldn't pass it up for that reason. I like the contrast of the handle materials.

I will have to handle it before making a decision but I think it is probably too big for EDC (for me). If they made a 3.25" blade version of this, I would not hesitate to get it.

I hope this is a direction for future designs... a heavy finger choil, beefy and strong but with a design elegance about it.

Micarta is my favorite handle material. It is warm, grippy and good looking, I think.

I should have mine by New Years. Thats when I'm visiting Mom for the holidays.

"The waiting is the hardest part..."

Uh-Huuuu !

Mine's on the way too !!!
Thanks Mary Beth !!!

Now I'll have to sit down and control my gastritis waiting for it... (long way to Sao Paulo)

Looks like a very practical brute of a folder. I'd love to have one. It's good to see Neil Blackwood's design talents getting some more publicity.

I just received mine from NGK and in record time. This was my first time ordering from them and i had a stellar experience. On to the knife however.

My Rukus, 0121/1000 has some dark lines that look almost like hair cracks going the same direction as the grain of the steel. I have heard that s30v when care isnt given to the heat treat process can be brittle. I also notice a small nick in the blade which i would assume has seen zero use since it is new.

Has anyone else observed anything like this? I use a jewelers loupe to examine my new purchases so maybe i am just being too picky.

and as a side note. are a few scratches on the blade worth a return to NGK or would i be better off dealing directly with Benchmade on quality control issues.

Have you owned Benchmades before? The reason I ask is because Benchmades milling process leaves a lined texture in most of the blades I have owned from them. Can't feel them by hand but you can see them and if you look at them under a loup they could look like cracks I suppose, but they should have a uniform appearance to them. If your lines run length wise with the blade, they could be scuffs or cracks.

Really up to you on them, if it bothers you send it back for replacement, otherwise I would use it and if it breaks get it replaced under Benchmade's excellent warranty. I would lean towards them being scratches myself but I have not seen the blade.

If you're looking at the edge under a loup and only then see the chips, I think you're being too picky. If they are visible with the nekkid eye, maybe not. I would not send it back for the chips, just sharpen it.

I currently own a 710 a 941 a 806 and the 610. Both the D2 806 and the S30V 610 exibit the same microserrations on the edge. That is not an issue. the chip is visible at close inspection by the naked eye and is also felt if you run the back of your thumbnail down the blade. both issues can be fixed with a few minutes on the sharpmaker. The hairline cracks or scratches are visible to the naked eye as well and those are much darker than the surrounding steel. I think at this point im going to keep it and see how the knife wears. I will probably send off an email to benchmade explaining my find just so they and myself has something on record just in case of future problems. I will try to get a few macro shots of the blade.

For the record, Just saw another 610 and it does not exibit these marks. May have just slipped by quality control.

:) BTW, I love the bandaid dispenser NGK shipped with the knife. I just about ran out of em after getting my BM 41.

Just got mine, I love this knife. Mt new favorite benchmade by a long shot. I got the black blade, with serration. I think this looks so much better with the handles that the silver blade. BIG strong, sharp knife.

You got a 610 with a black blade and serrations ?
I thougt that the first run were only PE, no coating...

Can you post pics ?
