New Benchmades are in!

I think Mr. Lum uses a linerlock system on his custom folders so he designed this folder with one. Talking about thicker liners and how they are appearing more and more, it still requires the correct geometry of fitting the lock to the blade tang. In other words a thick, but poorly designed liner lock will likely fail like the thinner lock, whereas a properly designed linerlock with a thick liner is much like a framelock, and a thing of real beauty;) . The three liner locks I have seem to be properly fitted and the liner thickness ranges from .075", .100", and .125"! Benchmade uses .080" liners on the 425 and 426, don't know about fit, but imagine that BM has it right. Unless that big folder has some seriously thick, properly fitted, liners, I'm taking a pass on it. My Ontario Retribution I has .125" liners and I'm comfortable with that! Hope I wasn't too off topic!:D

Btw, that Dejavoo is looking mighty sweet to me.

Yes, it looks great.

Thanks for your thoughts on how this knife ended up with a
liner lock rather than let's say, an Axis lock.

Wonder if anyone else has some idea about why they
used a liner lock?

I like the Byrd folders I've seen. The ones I've owned have been good solid performers with good reliable and solid feeling lock ups. I know they call that 8CR steel the Chinese 440C, in fact my original Byrd Cara Cara has that stamped on the blade but in my opinion the Byrd blades take a much better biting edge and outcut any of the 440C blades I have done the same things with so to me thats pretty impressive in its own right.

I have not seen a Vex or the new Lum folder with the opening hole that BM just came out with. Unless I get one for work I probably won't since I am no longer interested in purchasing any liner locks at all unless I intent to turn it into a frame lock right away.

The only one that interests me right now from BenchMade is the new HK14205 which looks to be a super knife. I will probably have to have one of those as soon as NewGraham or one of the other dealers I like gets one.
