New BK16 grind issue?

I am a firm beloved that sometimes sh#t happens and that for the number of knives kabar sells compared to the number of issues we are made aware of is not to bad... Yes there are always lemons... My friend had has a dodge ram that won't start in the rain and another that has a ford that sounds all alarms every couple of weeks for no reason. I agree with the op that the knife is not as it should be but past experience tells me kabar will make it right. Tooj was awesome and is sorely missed but life goes on and ever when he was there we did have occasional issues. In the grand scheme of things we are a small group and should get along fine no need for picking on each other that's why we have wives so we can bicker and argue.

Sorry to see a blade screwed up... My bk10 had an weird grind but was usable so I modified it and it is awesome. I understand we all work hard for money and that it doesn't grow on trees so it is up to the manufacture to correct some issues if not it is up to us... Crappy as it may be but crap happens some times so say f##k it and move forward... No need to get angry with each other.

To the op if kabar does not correct the issue i as a beckerhead in front of all other's I will buy the knife off you for the price you paid. I feel Ethan has designed the best blades around bare non! If kabar will not back it then and you get screwed then no worries brother I will take the knife as I can use it!

Cheers
Cory

I agree.

And thank you for the offer, but even if I get another like the last, I'll make it work somehow.

No worries... We are all beckerheads because we like the designs... Period. They work as designed above all others. Granted. Different steel would be a different discussion but kabars 1095cv is the best bang for the buck in my honest opinion.

I hate to see someone getting crapped on for a serious and obvious issue. If kabar won't replace it let me know and I'll look after you. Enough of this bs. I don't make a million dollars a year but we all joined this group for a reason and some of us need to remember this. Beckerheads stick together! I posted a rant about an inability to get a bk brute and after 3 weeks a guy sent me a pm with a great offer on a nib brute so we should all be able to vent once in a while!

Nuff said !

The kid sent me a pm , we're all good . Two ppl just made my ignore list. Back on topic for me

Glad to hear.... We should all be able to go off once in a while. No reason for anyone to get mad at each other as opinions are like a$$holes everyone got one just some are bigger lol.... It is understandable that people get upset from time to time but we are all here because we like the blades and want to share experiences.

Anyways glad to see you have been able to get some beckers down under Aussie... I know knife laws are strict in some countries so enjoy them and beat the snot out of them and don't forget to post pics

I'm having some trouble with Canada Post, I probably won't get my blade until tomorrow afternoon, even through it's at my local post office right now....

Canada post is awesome... They have lost 3 packages on me in the last 3 years .... Anyways post pics when you get it

Douglas,

The 17 is a better knife IMHO, YMMV, for secondary self defense purposes, than the 16. The 16 would work well, but for fighting the 17 will be more stabby.
My preference IF I had to pick a tweener for a defensive knife though would be a 15. Its MADE to cut FLESH. Little longer, very very slicy still a good point for penetration, and very very quick and nimble in the hand.
Just my 2 cents though.

I agree about the 17 being better suited for stabbing. Probably why Ethen put a spear point grind on the top, similar to the USMC knife.
I do actually like the 17 design better but i was getting so many recommendations for the 16 that i thought id give it a look.
The 15 is a great looking knife but not really my style. I think the 17 may actually be perfect for my needs.

I wish i could buy all 3 tweeners and a 2 and a 9 haha

Just a point of clarification, the 17 has a clip point blade, not a spear point.

I have received a Becker that was ground similar to the one in the OP (except it is a 14). 15 minutes regrinding it on my coarse diamond stone and it was in much better shape.

For me, that was much easier than sending it back.

Mass manufacturing is going to lead to some variance, especially considering these knives are partially hand ground. By all means, anyone not happy with their purchase should be made right, but a little slip up while sharpening on a grinder does not make a knife useless.

G'day Wildnewfie . It is indeed nice to get beckers here in oz , just gotta wait a month or so and I don't have a lot of patience lol. When I can finally get a week off I'm gonna try and go out and use them . Unfortunately we are coming upto winter here in oz though :(

Just got my replacement 16 in. Perfect.

The last one had a silky nylon liner in the front pouch, and the webbing seemed darker. This one however has no such lining, and the webbing is lighter. Just like my 17's sheath I purchased a year back.

So, I am assuming the nylon lining in the front pouch is a new update, which means this replacement is an older one. But, that's just what I've deduced. Other than the webbing and liner, there isn't anything else to go on.

Just thought I'd mention that.

Here are some pics of my new 16.

Sexiness!!! I cant wait to get one.

It's actually a surprisingly good performer out of the box. I thought it would do a lot worse than it did. However, I am headed out in a couple minutes to strip it (and my BK5 and 14). Then I'll be inside convexing em:D

I'll post some pics after I'm done.

The 16's maiden voyage.

I can't seem to get a good pic of the 16 alone, the lighting is bad (dusk). My 14 looks like a whole new knife. I really need to get some kydex for it.

I just love happy endings! Lol
Congrats on a fine blade Mr. Wood Splitter!
I'm glad Ka-bar got you squared away.
