Dang, that has to feel better. I wasn't expecting a chunk like that to be in there. I too, would still go to the doctor, just to make sure.

The crazy part is that I was wearing gloves. Damned thing went through anyway. Guess I will double glove for a while. :)
 
Man - outstanding gross pics! That chunk o' thorn is amazing and I hate to ask this but are you sure the whole thing is out? Looks like it may be missing a tip to me but I'm neither a doctor nor a botanist. Yow - glad that thing is out. Maybe you could make some knife handles out of it or something.

I irrigated the hole it left and did not see anything but pink flesh and maybe a little white bone and tendon. My guess is the tip broke off when piercing my glove and I have such heavy swings that the puncture was created by the flat edge of the thorn.

Because of all this I named my BK2, "Thorn". :)
 
If I can wrangle the time, I will go back to the devil tree and cut it down. It is already dead but I must devour its soul by BONFIRE!!!!!!! (pics will be provided)
 
i would suggest enshrining the chunk in some fashion :) perhaps put it IN the handle of your knife? or mount it on a plaque :)

now, do your PT :> use it or loose it.

I talked to a couple of my friends at work that create jewelry. Now both ladies are looking for the right materials for me to make and preserve my little treasure as a necklace. I did not think about putting it in the handle. Brilliant idea. If the necklace thing doesn't work out. It will forever live in the handle.
 
As a teaser, here lies the home of my nemesis. Its lair is about 15 minutes inside. (these are the woods behind my house, my stomping grounds. if the critters don't try and eat you, the trees try to kill you.) I won't name the makers of the other knives I will be taking but my 2 will be on my hip. When I am done, that forest will bow and praise my Becker. It will cry to the moon shouting "ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY THORN, DESTROYER OF POKEY TREES)

well, this wood has mortally offended thee, perhaps take a chunk, get it stabilized, and have custom handles made? :)

all kinds of antics ensue :)

Maybe I will cut a slab use it to show my future knives stabbing into it, I mean my future knives displayed atop the wood and one day when I earn my Becker # and super cape I will use the slab to show the knives I get in a pass around.

Dart board
Throwing axe target
Put it through a wood chipper and have a lifetime of toothpicks
Build a box to store bottle and sacks of weed and tree killer
Maybe I will carve a new axe handle out of it and then cut it down with itself

The juices are flowing......

I wonder if I should just get some armor gauntlets. Beckerheads of the Round Table, coming soon.
Taking my son to see Cars 2 this Sunday.
