New Contest Rules !

The rules are the rules. I don't understand how people can drop 100's if not 1000's of dollars on blades and complain about a lousy $25.00 a year to support a website. You win 1 CONTEST and your membership has more then paid for itself.

actually even without winning - the amount and quality of both, sound advice and hilarious entertainment is really worth that amount.

Just imagine what you paid if you got the same amount and variety of information as books.

(now I only have to sell that to my hubby)

It's not the new rules I'm complaing about....its the reason for the change, it seems like one person always ruins a good thing for all!!!!!

I've already got a lot of free info with my free account, and even picked up a great deal on a used knife. A Gold membership would have already paid for itself by this point. I will be upgrading to Gold soon to be able to sell some of my old stuff, and the contests will be a bonus.

As with most things in life. Think about how hard it is to even own a knife in some areas - all because someone used a knife in crime.

I look at it like this: We pay a relatively small fee and help support a site that we spend hours on each week. That entitles us to enjoy the benefits of that membership(PM's, selling gear, etc.), and then we get the bonus of being eligible to win some great stuff... kinda seems like a no-brainer to me. I'll upgrade...

That is the other side of the coin that I didn't look at. :foot: Good point. When I get back from Atlanta I'll look at upgrading.

Imo, an upgrade to a basic member would be better. It is $10 vs $25. For someone like myself I will never sell or trade on the exchange so that type of account is not worth it to me where I was considering a basic upgrade anyway to support the forum. I get making the contest only for paying members, but think a basic should be good enough for the purpose of entering a contest online.

I also fall into this catagory and agree that Basic should be good enough to enter a contest.

Apparently, my comments have upset some people. (JV3, MrsShotgunner11...) I apologize. If I would have known how I choose to spend my limited money in the way that I choose to spend it, effected the forum, I wouldnt have said anything at all. The most I have ever paid for a knife is $100 and it was for my RC-4. For the Third time, I'm not disagreeing with the rules or saying that they are inappropriate, I'm just saying that I will not be entering the contests in the future, due to the new rules. Y'all really shouldnt be upset, by me not upgrading your chances at winning are that much better. All the best to ESEE, the forum and its contributors.

Good rules.

People that are pissed have to remember...

ESEE doesn't have to give away a thing!

They do so because they want to. Don't want to participate? Don't. You are getting the same great forum experience as before.

I thought that it was pretty obvious and annoying that there were so many people just coming here for a freebie without adding anything to the mix anyway. With any luck, this will help end the fluff.

This was a good move..... although, it really is too bad 1 person could so easily ruin a good thing....

I joined because of the product and the great info and camaraderie on here.Any giveaways were a bonus. Where else could I see a guy in ESEE panties ?

How do I use the pro-rate upgrade option ?

you post a thread in the service and support forum asking your membership to be pro-rated, once you upgrade and are pro-rated the remaining time on your basic membership will be added to your upgraded membership.

For My Final Post...

I think it's a great idea and I'll go even further and say that Spark should totally do away with the Registered User titles and require a paid membership to anybody who wants to view the site beyond the front page.

I have personally been on here a few years, reading more than posting but as I stand behind my statement and have no intention of upgrading just to have an avatar and sig line then I don't see the point in continuing my membership.

This site is well-known enough that Spark shouldn't have to deal with lurkers anymore, which is what a Registered User is. A lurker with a screen name and the option to run off at the f'in' mouth when the mood strikes them.

I enjoy my knives, ESEEs included, much more when I'm not in front of this lameass machine anyway.

RATPACKER4EVER!!!!
Recon1 (not named after the knife).

While I like being on the forums I dont know that I want to pay to have a chance to win a "free" prize.

I couldn't care less whether I ever win a contest or not...though they are fun. I became a paying member as soon as I realized how much I liked the site as a whole and wanted to do my part in helping to keep it here to come to and enjoy. I know I waste more than $25.00 a year on unnecessary crap that means a lot less to me...seemed the least I could do.

Pity Spark couldn't somehow accidentally post this jerks real address along with his IP. Sounds like he really needs a good lesson in having respect for others.

In before the lock….

I’m really not that much of a knife guy. I came here looking for specific info on specific knives (RAT/ESEE knives). If it weren’t for this section of the forum I wouldn’t be here.

My motivation to become a paying member and eventually upgrading to gold was I figured if Dizwolf can have a contest to give a $30 fire kit to a stranger and ESEE can repeatedly give stuff away (including the RAT Pack Kit that I won in the shelter contest) that my $24 contribution is worth it.

There has been a flood of giveaway participants who have never so much as contributed a word to ESEE forum. Take a look through the list some time. They might pop in with a “yeah I agree” in a couple of threads, but that’s it. It sucks for those members who do contribute.

Yeah I agree......: )

On serious note...I feel I have much to learn, much more than I could contribute. That is why I read more than I type!:D I think more people should follow suit, considering the amount of misinformation on some forums:rolleyes:

I never even considered that someone would create multiple accounts.. to win a $100 knife!?!?! Random. Due to circumstances of this situation alone, I agree with the new rules. Plus, I was already considering upgrading to a gold membership to sell off some knives and gear...so I guess now is as good a time as any.

Cheers.
