New CRKT Hi Jinx

Will this knife put me in the cool knife guy club? Or should I keep eying other Lion Steel offerings?

I cannot believe it weighs in at 6.4 oz. A titanium handle and under 4' blade and it is heavier than my beefy weight Severtech. ???

Looks like the ZT0801 and ZT0770 had a baby and then the 0801 found out the Blur is the real father.

Too pricey. I would rather throw down my money on a ZT.

Still, Ken Onion designs great stuff. And from what I've read CRKT is really trying to step up their game.

I love seeing that Insingo, 0777 blade shape. Definitely adds some class to it.

Its a cool knife with good features and materials, and its good to see crkt step up their materials and quality. For around $300 street is pretty ridiculous though, I would much rather have a 0562 or 0620 with cf and m390 which will be less money to boot. I dont know much about marketing, but it seems to me that they will have to do better with pricing if they want to be successful in the high end market since the competition is so fierce.

Take the CRKT brand name out of the equation for a moment. You have a full titanium framed (not with a G10 slab like other knives at similar range/status) knife with a Sleipner blade riding on bearings, made by a company that is producing some of the finest production knives on the market. Designed by the man himself, Ken Onion. I believe $300 is right around what this knife would go for if it were being produced by ZT and I'm sure higher if it was BM.

CRKT isn't associated with premium

Yuhuh. This is the main problem. The brand name  it's associated with lower-end knives. Maybe in a few years it will be more associated with higher-end knives.

EXACTLY...this is why the knife caught my eye. Lionsteel and Sleipner are reasons enough for me to be able to see by the CRKT name.

Could someone explain why Sleipner is considered a high-end steel when it looks to me exactly like CPM-154 with less Chromium?

Isn't the 0801 full titanium with bearings, Elmax, and costs a lot less? Same with all the Kizer knives.

Yeah, like $650 higher :p

Sorry, I had to.

As noted above, ZT already makes a very similar knife; the 0801.

The 801 is a heck of a bargain I don't know how KAI does it. Price is still in line with the specs I'd say and after owning both high end KAI products and Lionsteel as well I think Lionsteel is made to a higher standard, just my opinion.

The quality of LionSteel-made knives is second only to Chris Reeve Knives.

This was in Blade Magazine's May 2014 issue on page 30.

LionSteel was runners-up in two major categories at the 2013 Blade Show: Overall and Manufacturing Quality!

I really like where Lionsteel is going.Other Companies market some products they produce under there own brand name. The kicker is that those same companies openly disclose and proudly acknowledge they are produced by Lionsteel. This speaks volumes about the quality of the products that Lionsteel is producing under their branding and for others. They are putting out some amazing cutlery.

For the price they are asking, I'd rather have the 0801CF. Caged bearings as well, lighter, stainless steel, has lock-bar inserts and cheaper, what is there not to like more about the 0801CF compared to the Hi-Jinx?
