New CRKT snap on exclusive wrinkle!

Just purchased the $30 one (Thanks IFC!). The blade shape reminds me of the Onion Skinner. It works very well. I believe the blade is a Bohler steel on the skinner.

What do you guys mean by buying it "off the truck?"

Pretty much exactly that. The Snap-On tool trucks generally drive around to places like mechanics shops, or other businesses where employees work with hand tools, and they sell tools to people, right "off the truck". A friendly acquaintance of mine is an auto-mechanic, and whenever the Snap-On guy comes around, it's both a good and bad day. Bad because he ends up spending money, but good because heck yeah, new tools.

Were these made in USA or offshore?

Looks like a nice knife.

Me too. At the same price as the original Walmart Ripple, the Wrinkle has to be considered a best buy. It's a little large for me to carry, so I'll probably end up giving it to a buddy of mine. But I've got to hand it to CRKT once again for bringing bearing knives to the masses on the cheap. :D

I love CRKT's ikbs. Thanks for sharing the deal. Just ordered mine. The fossil I just picked up is smoother than my 0801 and hopefully this one will be as smooth as it.

My Wrinkle came in today and as mqqn surmised, it IS a nice knife. I originally thought I'd check it out and give it away but I think I may hang onto it for awhile. The fit and finish are excellent, lockup is dead solid, it fits just right in my medium-sized hand and it flips like a dream. It weighs 4.2 ounces on my scale. That puts it on the high end of what I'm willing to carry, but not over the top. Could make for a nice beater knife.

Kudos to IFC for a nice find. :D

Well you just made me run out to the mail box. No luck, but glad to hear the good report. If the handles aren't to grippy I think I'll add mine to the rotation.

I swear they were even more than $130 off the truck. I wish i had known they were $30 on woot id buy one then even though I'm not into foreign knives that much.

The handles are sculpted aluminum and they're not too grippy for me. :)

The scales are reminiscent of the scales on a HTM Gunhammer - for a heck of a lot less.

By the time I got on to order one they were gone, but congrats to the folks that got them -

These are one sale today for $30 on woot (orange only). Just ordered one.

I ordered one when you originally posted this so thanks for the tip. Been on the road until today, but have been reading this forum on a tablet, saw your post and got it ordered. Need to pick up mail tomorrow. Hope it is there. :)

I've been wanting one, but didn't consider the Snap-On price to be a good value. The Woot deal was a great price, IMHO. Anxious to get my hands on it.

It was an insane price, especially when you consider that the price of the Walmart Ripple was exactly the same when it was released and the Wrinkle is a lot more robust.

The handle on the Wrinkle is much more sculpted than on the Gunhammer. I'd characterize the Gunhammer's grip (and the Ripple's as well) as ridged rather than sculpted. In fact, if the Ripple and the Wrinkle had been released at the same time and it were up to me, I would have reversed their names. Between the Gunhammer and the Wrinkle, I prefer the handle on the Wrinkle.

One other thing. The blade is marked CRKT, not Snap On. That leads me to believe that the Wrinkle may have been geared for general release before CRKT struck a deal to give Snap On an exclusive. Whether that means the Snap On exclusive has an expiration date and the Wrinkle could end up going into general circulation is anybody's guess. But I have little doubt it would do very well in general circulation.

There's a good review of the Wrinkle here for those who may be interested:

I too got mine. I'm impressed for the price, but do find that I wish the aluminum handles were grippier. I think that can be fixed with a light touch of 80 grit to the highest ridges to roughen them up. If I get some time to tinker I'll let you know how well it works.

Glad so many of you were able to cash in on this deal.

Got mine in today. Not a bad knife for $35. I was kind of surprised after opening mine though that the paint has been rubbed off the high spots on the handles. Anyone else notice this on theirs?

Yes, it's exactly . . . and I mean EXACTLY . . . the same way on mine. Makes me wonder if it's wear or intentional?
