New CRKT snap on exclusive wrinkle!

Is it likely to be a blem or wear if ALL of them look exactly the same? When I say the handle on my Wrinkle looks exactly like cross1178's, I mean it's a mirror image. To my eyes the ridges appear to be intentionally highlighted. But we'll need more people to weigh in before we can draw any solid conclusions.

Also, it could be that the handles on the Snap-on versions were finished differently. This much I can tell you. Whether it's wear, blem or intentional, the Wrinkle is a lot of knife for $30.00.

I do think the snap on editions were finished differently. They appear to have a much brighter and glossier finish in the pics. The wear was done before the clip was put on, as it has none. And as stated above, a lot of knife for the money. Seems like its going to be a good slicer as well, and I'm curious how their Aus8 compares to their 8cr. I've had somewhat unbelievable results with it in the past so I hope this does as well.

I hate that I missed this one, the orange one looks cool. The green looks kind of like a pickle.

I just looked at the highlights on my handle under magnification. It's paint, boys and girls, not bare metal. I'm not sure how it was applied, but it's a really neat effect. In fact, it was the first thing I noticed when I unpacked the knife. It reminds me of whitecaps on water.

Bld, have you noticed the 2 metal pins on the inside near the pivot? I was looking for the blade stop pin and noticed them. When looking at the top of the knife with the blade closed you will notice them. I can't say I've ever seen anything like it. If it is a pin, the blade must have a channel groove cut in it for it and I guess it functions as the blade stop. I may have to tear this puppy down.

Yes. I see those pins on mine as well. Be careful if you disassemble your knife, though. There are uncaged bearings in that pivot that have taken an oath to escape at all costs and they're little bitty critters. If they drop to the floor, you may never see them again. ;)

Haha, made me laugh.

Several of my coworkers ordered Wrinkles from Woot, and they all brought theirs in to the office. To me, the "wear" on the handle is reminiscent of that on the Ripple, which some people are convinced (based on reviews) that this is some sort of defect rather than part of the design. I love the worn look myself, but the Wrinkle doesn't really do it for me due to the handle shape and color. However, all of them that I checked out at work had flawless, incredibly smooth opening action, which is a credit to the IKBS design. Everyone who bought one at $30 was extremely pleased. Whether any would have paid MSRP from a Snap-On truck remains to be seen.

Really like mine. A wonderful knife for $30. The look is different from what I usually go for. Don't think it's worth the Snap On MSRP. Super smooth great flipper. Perfect centering and tight lockup. Sharp enough that it doesn't need touched up. At first glance I thought maybe there was wear on the scales, but after a closer look I believe it was finished like that. Also wondering about the pin and how it's put together. Not going to mess with those uncaged bearings. Hopefully one of you will take it apart and post pictures. This Wrinkle will get a lot of use, can't wait to get started and see how she performs.

There are several on ebay that are listed as having a "weathered" finish -

All right, all right. You guys forced me into it. I took my Walmart Ripple and my Wrinkle into my wife and showed them both to her with the following question: Are the highlights on the handles painted on or base metal. (I already knew the Ripple highlights were base metal, so I cheated a little.) She looked at both of them under magnification and said "base metal". She was an art major in college and she's much better at spotting these sorts of things than I am. So I'm forced to relinquish the point. The "weathering" on the Wrinkle is base metal. And just like the Ripple, it's purposeful . . . or at least that's her take on it.

The effect on the handle sides is intentional. I believe the finish is anodized, with the high spots sanded to create the "wrinkle" effect more prominent.

The pins act as reinforcement against side loads to the blade. Nice little touch if you ask me.

I'm a long-time CRKT customer & normally I'll be the first one to rush to their defense, but come on... I can't give this blade any love whatsoever. Just look at those handle scales. It's like a 13 year old girl decided to customize a knife using nail polish.
