New finish on old models?!!

Just a couple guys standing up for what they believe in politically. Nothing crazy but it's a page about knives, not politics. Facebook has enough of that crap already.

I guess I missed it. I just looked for the pictures and could t find it.

There was a remark made over the size of the flag logo. Things were said and I basically told them both to cut the crap because I'd hate to see two good people get nixed from the FB page over opposing view points and I don't know how tolerant the Mods are over there.

I don't know about you guys but I think the newer logos and the bigger American Flag look great!!

Agreed!

I would LOL when Guy would say the new machines and procedures would make an even tighter fit and finish because that was already his trademark, but man, he was right. The finish and logos look amazing.

I think I'll hesitate a little to really abuse my new models, but after the first use I think I'll be good :D

The increased fit and finish is an indicator of the care and pride the maker infuses in their products. The design and the choice of materials used in these tools makes them tools that you can stake your life on. Some makers dissuade people from chopping, battoning and using their knives hard. Guy stabs his through Chevy pickup truck windows, battons through a brick and repels down a rock face with his. These are not activities that are covered by his warranty, but it is a pretty good indicator of what the tool is capable of if push comes to shove. All sharp pieces of steel will cut paper. I want an edge that will hold up to my beating on it through dry and seasoned as well as green wood, then cut effectively so that I have a fighting chance if things go wrong. Survive! tools do this as well as any out there, and better than most.

I agree with this, and at a good price point for what you get.

When I was young and stupid I admired S! knives from a safe distance because I didn't understand what made GSO's different than a factory made 1095 blade. Compare one of Guy's knives to anything similar and it's like you're paying for raw 3v and getting an inhumane amount of care and quality for free. That's not even factoring in the (what I consider) premium handle material and sheath.

Kiah does an outstanding job with these sheaths. I don't think that I have heard of too many hiccups. Yea, they ride high, but I love the sound that they make when the knife locks into place. there are plenty of options now to get these to ride lower. I love the MOLLE attachment capability as they come. It is a bit of a pain to get them attached. as are all things MOLLE, but once they are on, it is secure. I carry my 7/7 upside down on my load bearing vest without issue.

You were correct to point out the value, which is why I think that Survive! is the best value out there. They are not functional art, they are functional tools. And I don't think there is a better value out there for tools that do what these do.

Mac, I agree that they are, above anything, functional and tough.

For my tastes I do think they are also gorgeous to behold. I love saber grinds in general, but I love the straightforward design with strong lines and contours of Guy's designs. Personally I just never connected with mosaic handle pins or polished wood handles or mirror finishes on a blade. Completely my own preference, but another reason why I'm a big S! fan(boy) :D

Now, I wonder if ni1s has any thoughts on this topic???

I'm speechless. Stunned. Wow. After about 5 minutes of manic laughter.

I can't comment on the HT yet, but the finish is the best looking I've ever seen, and it's hard imagining buying something stone washed after this. It's almost got a micro-orange peel texture, incredibly crisp edges. I promised to beat it up, but I'm almost afraid to scrape it.

Oh, and the customer service?? Wow! They keep surprising me. I'm amazed they have time to take such good care of their fans with all the work they've got to do!

Can't wait for my starters to arrive!!

Thanks for checking in. What a rare honor to receive this. I want to be like you when I grow up :p

I can't wait to see (as others do) what the finish will look like when you really beat on it. Do the peens or low points seem to stand out or is it pretty smooth to the touch? Can you guess if it would wear much differently than the tumble finish?

So cool. You are awesome.

That looks great ni1s!! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has a hard time with hesitating.
