New finish on old models?!!

Understandable. I can't stand most of Facebook. I copied the photos to show you. I hope Mike doesn't mind.

Would it be more correct if the stars on our Flag are positioned towards the direction where the knife points? Anybody familiar with Daniel Defense AR-15 handguards will know what I'm talking about. That manufacturer repositioned their engraving with the flag stars towards the muzzle - the stars to the direction of the enemy. " Never rearward, never retreat". And also if you point the knife upwards, the flag will be in correct display position. I'm talking about something like this. Can the position or ommission of flag be optional in pre-order?

The flag on S!K's simply signifies it's made in the U.S.A.
It is not a tactical knife, I know of no one taking it to Afghanistan using it against "the enemy".
I like the 'K.I.S.S. principle' Guy has always used.

Foxtrot, cool idea for the rifles. I never really thought of the flag position like that.

As far as GSO's go, they are tools and will find themselves in all directions. If they're stuck point down into a log or in the sheath, the flag would be in a good position, right?

Like Chambelona said, the flag signifies that the knife is an American product and should remain standard. Any variations in etching will increase production time and that is one thing Guy is working to reduce.

For the way I'm displaying the US Flag, as a "Made In" designation, the flag on my knives is displayed properly. When the US flag is displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. I'm just following proper flag etiquette. My flag isn't a political statement that the US never retreats or that we're always assaulting forward, I'm just proud to have a US made product.

My apologies if I have drawn any negative impression to my query. I wasn't insinuating anything or anything that would gravitate towards a negative comment on the existing engraving but merely inquiring possible options for the Flag mark. i do now understand about the delay it may cause the manufacturing process considering the huge demand and the pre-ordering process. Again I'm sorry, I understand about the "Made in" designation and am also proud about all American made products in my household which inludes my truck and equipments. Everything that has "Made in USA" mark means dearly to me and will be more proud to pass them on to my children.

I didn't find your question insulting at all. I was just on my way out the door this morning and perhaps I answered too directly. lol Logistically doing custom engraving or special requests right now would be an absolute nightmare. Our site is barely capable of letting us build out the products the way we need to as it is. We bring it up here at the shop every so often, trying to figure out an effective way of doing it and always come to the same conclusion of "F$%K That". One day we'll have a fancy custom built site that is more "manufacturing" oriented but until then Bigcommerce is the best that we can afford.

You're all good in my book. A lot of stuff can be misconstrued on the internet because it's hard to type sincerity or emotions. What ever you want to call it!
I have to go back and constantly reword stuff because I tend to sound like a jerk without even trying!
Thanks for the little history lesson about the direction of the flag also. I honestly never knew that.

So you're basically saying my GSO 8 won't have David Bowie's face etched on it?!! Sheesh!

no David bowie on my 8, don't guess I'll be ordering one :(
Haha!

I'm Canadian... and I'm proud to have a US made product
:D
Why have I never taken a look at your location line??

I've lived a pretty sheltered life, but are there any Canadian knife manufacturers you like? Other than a couple Italian companies and Mora and Opinel and Condor(?) I think the only knife companies I know are American.

We are all good then. You and your team are doing an outstanding job. I believe in the positive direction your team is heading because you have a goal, a mission, and understand quality and craftmanship. The level of demand and strong patronage for your products can attest on how you well you keep a sharp edge in your tools. Looks like another "mineral" was discovered at Kellogg. And this metal got edge. More power to You and your Team. God Bless America!!!✌

I'm speechless. Stunned. Wow. After about 5 minutes of manic laughter.

I can't comment on the HT yet, but the finish is the best looking I've ever seen, and it's hard imagining buying something stone washed after this. It's almost got a micro-orange peel texture, incredibly crisp edges. I promised to beat it up, but I'm almost afraid to scrape it.

Oh, and the customer service?? Wow! They keep surprising me. I'm amazed they have time to take such good care of their fans with all the work they've got to do!

Can't wait for my starters to arrive!!
