What time of year are you planning on make the trip RR? That will be quite a change from Canada! I lived in NW Montana for a good bit and marked a lot of timber near the US-Canada border. My father took a job in Canada for awhile, but moved back to the States before I was born. I still have a lot of family in Alaska and remember well traveling the AlCan highway as a kid. A lot of beautiful places in your country :) What part of Canada are you in? I don't recognize the location.

I'm in eastern Canada but I love traveling to the US. My favofite place would bd the appalachian mountains... Gorgeous place

Yes, in that instance the flag is indeed "flying forward". If a person were marching or running with the flag, that is the orientation the flag would be in. I thought it was more appropriate to print the flag on a t-shirt like that. A person, similar to a vehicle, has a "forward" position, so flag etiquette leads me to believe it is the appropriate orientation for the application.

Exactly Guy. I pointed this out to show the group that you understand, know and honor flag etiquette. Thanks for chiming in though.

Has this always been the rule with fatigues? My dad is retired Navy/Chair Force and I really can't remember seeing a flag on his right sleeve when he was in cammies. This was before all that funky digi camo stuff though.

I'm a western boy, but I would love to see the Appalachians sometime.

Big bend is gorgeous. I spent a week mule deer hunting about 30 miles east of there. Beautiful hiking but it was summer and hot. Enjoy your trip drink plenty of water. The humidity here will take it out of you faster then you realize.

Same here!
On a side note, A Walk in the Woods with Robert Redford should be coming out soon. Him and Nick Nolte walk that trail and it looks pretty damn funny.

ni1s, now that I've seen that new 5.1 on instagram I'm constantly thinking about the new finish. Any updates on your 4.1? Have you gotten much use with it since the last update? Any new pics? :D

It's a weird feeling, I know my 5 is by far my favorite knife of any that I've ever handled, but I wonder if my feelings have an expiration date...... when my 4.7 arrives. We'll see if the 4.7 dethrones my beloved 5!

I still loooove it! And I'm pretty sure the 4.7 will dethrone your 5. Sorry. :) I've used it a fair share and it's holding up really well! Will get you some new pics this weekend. For now, here's one I posted on fb a week or so ago. Doesn't show the finish much though. :)

Personally I'm struggling with not buying a new 5.1. My old one is perfectly fine. :)

Thanks for these pics. I'll be looking forward to more!

Hahaha yeah, looking forward to the 4.7. Maybe it will be an even tie with the 5, haha.

Nice! Feel like taking any close up pics?

From my use and pics online I've never seen terribly worn tumbled finish from old models. Would you say new finish shows wear more?

You can only see it in certain angles if you look hard for it. But, yes, I think the new finish will show more wear than the tumbled one. (I posted here to not pollute the other thread.)

Good call posting here in this thread. It only seems like there is the one big scratch. Do you know what that is from? Wood must not have too much of an effect considering all the work you've done.

I have no idea, I just noticed it today. Maybe chicken bone, but I don't know if it's hard enough.
