New Fire Kit concept

Absolutely. Let's plan on dinner one night. I think we're trying to get another get together put in place for Blade so consider yourself invited and we can also do the pit one night.

Sounds like a plan. We'll be staying in the hotel this time (instead of driving back to the house every night) so we're down for some good times!

The new Fire kit's look awesome!! I am looking forward to getting one of these. I have 2 of the fire kit's now. Keep one in my winter coat and the other with my kit.

With regards to the reason for putting the rod inside rather than having in sticking out, I remember our own Mistwalker saying that he'd had a firesteel "rot"/disintegrate in his pocket one day. He thought it was from sweating while he was walking. A good reason to keep the rod protected. I think that was in a thread on BCUK.

I love these firesteel "tubes", I've got a couple of Bunkers and a Nanostriker on the way. I'll snap up at least one of these and any modular components.

Anyways, all this talk of "advanced" firesteels finally made me order a Nanostriker from Knifeworks. I always avoided carrying a regular firesteel/mag rod on my keychain since I think the constant scraping against the keys and other crap would wear it away..the Nanostriker seems to remedy that.

I carried a Boy scout firesteel on my keys for 15 years. It's the thinnest rod I owned, and it never disappeared It also cost about $2.50

I just bought some fire steels from them and was thinking about ordering one of their tubes. I'm glad Jeff posted about their new kit so I can wait and get the ESEE one.

Look at it this way, the best of both worlds. Exotac looks like they will be making a similar kit (hope so) and we will be doing this one so between the two companies you can rest assured that the latest innovations and Fire Kit coolness will be coming out this year.

Not complaining there. I spend more money on this kinda stuff then on knives. I've got a few knives that fit my needs perfect but trying out new tools of this order and see what works is more fun
