New Fire Kit concept

Shon and I just talked about this and we are going to ship an extra thread protector cap and make the lanyard holder a cap so the user can thread it on to the compass end if the ferro rod is carried outside or thread it on the ferro end if the ferro rod is carried inside. We are also going to be doing add-on components in the future to make this a real modular system.

I liked the old one, I like this one better. It does look a bit more complicated to manufacture, so will cost a bit more. I probably get one anyway.

I'm thinking it's going to be a lot more. The anodizing of all the components costs a lot with the way it has to be done. With that said, these are going to become modular kits with extras that can be bought without having to buy the base kit again.

That's pretty hardcore stuff, HD. Hope our stuff can hold up to it. If all else fails, you can fill the capsule with your favorite Scotch.

It doesn't hold enough of my favorite Scotch - you guys need to make a friggin' flask...;)

blake

Did I miss it? Will it be a normal ferro or misch metal?

Normal ferro. Our supplier for Misch is so hit and miss we gave up on trying to do anything with that material. Great material but consistent supply sucks.

bloody hell i'm not here for a few days and there is a new thread exploded to 8 pages.....

Nice design! looks real cool. Im not much of scotch person though. Does it come with draft function and coolers for my beer?

Not sure, but you could always buy a few extras, fill them with water and freeze them to make coolers on the go, or super cool ice cubes for your scotch or n/a drink of choice...

I dig it! Question, it looks as if the ferro rod just sits in the rubber holder thing, im sure its a tight fit but could the ferro rod fly out while using it? Especially once the rubber might wear in a little.

Huh? There's no rubber on this thing except for O-ring seals

The whole design is so you can fill the tube up with your favorite fruit punch, screw the ferro rod in, freeze it in your freezer and out pops an ESEE popsicle with ferro rod stick

In the pic it looked like the rod was removable/replaceable via a rubber grommet. But i guess that "rubber grommet" is aluminum :-)

Anyway, great design. Especially making it modular.

i like it, but honestly i think my favorite ferro rod is my light my fire. i can make sparks bounce off the ground with my scout from four feet, which i cant do nearly as easily with my goinggear one, though i have seen people with much better results than myself.

Nothing more to say! Sir, you made my day :D

That makes me a sad bunny. When misch is good, it's impressive.
