New game: name a knife you DO like from a company you DON'T like

Mantis. I think their designs have gottem weirder and more useless as time goes by. Their karambits are either designed for midgets or space aliens, as anybody with a regular-sized hand won't be able to get their finger comfortably through the finger ring (folding versions) or will slice off their pinky if they try to use them for cutting anything (fixed versions). Most of the rest of their knives have random bits of garbage riveted on to their handles to give them some of the worst possible ergonomics out there. On a whole, the company seems to be run by a demented design monkey, with a penchant for sticking legos on otherwise passable knives.

They do, or at least did have two reasonably useable knives. The Seymour was a fairly good fixed blade general purpose knife. The fixed prybar is a semi-indestructable prying tool that happens to cut. It is inelegant, but works as a tool.

This is too easy. I despise Microtech, but I would not refuse any of the Walter Brend ground variety.

I like many Microtechs, but Tony is a thief.

After reading this thread..If Microtech's business practices were top notch, they'd be a very popular company.

I'll agree with this... there are about a dozen microtechs that i love. Fixed blades, OTF, Flippers.... i love a lot of them, but a absolutely despise the company and will not spend a dollar on one.

In general, I don't like Spyderco knives. They are fine, well made knives, I've just never found any that I seem to want to buy. EXCEPT for the Temperence II. I'd have several of them, if they weren't so pricey. A very nice fixed blade. Still on the wish list.

Mantis Knives: Not a fan of most of what they make, but the Manacoe was good enough for $20.

The CRKT Minimalist wharncliffe. Great design for forward grip, light weight, inexpensive, and--a rarity--a factory sheath with good retention. I hate their churn (killing the Kasper/Crawford Companion was a huge mistake), substandard steels, and proprietary Nev-R-Sharp heat treatment.

I mentioned CRKTs M21-14SFG & M16-14SFG.. If you are considering buying one, I would say go for it.. Its a good knife for the price.. I actually like the veff serrations on those knives.

BUT someone mentioned Mantis.. I dont like the look of their knives, they are tacticool meets fantasy. One knife I do like is their Bottleneck. Its a crazy little butterfly knife/bottle opener. I just see that as genius. lmao. It looks like a keychain bottle opener until you flip it around and its a mini knife/letter opener. I think its a good little camping/hunting/fishing knife (not a primary knife of course), for cutting rope or fishing line or anything else open when you dont need to reach for your fixed blade or big folder... I mean it fits on your keys and it opens your beer!

I dont like Bark River, but I like bravo-2.
Same thing with BUCK and the vantage s30v model.
But I'd buy neither of them.
Also I don't like Benchmade but I would buy some of them like: mini barrage, sequel, TSEK.

I have 1 CS Master Hunter, and 2 recon tanto`s.... good knives, made in USA.
I wont buy their products now that they have moved production outside the USA.

Many people here on BF don't like SRM, but I bet they'd be pleasantly surprised with the 710.

My own choice: Gerber has little interest to me, but their Profile fixed blade has a nice design. I don't have it though.

Once again, SOG. I have a Powerlock I carry and two in reserve, although all were purchased before they went south in the design dept. So I doubt they will be getting any more of my money. (And come to think of it, never have, as I have purchased each 2nd or 3rd hand.)
