New GEC #14 Boys Knife

Does anyone have a pic of the 14's lined up to a Pemberton or a 25?

Here's a #14 next between a #25 and an #18.

Thanks Alan, it's a solid little knife. I haven't seen any Ebony 14's posted yet. Wonder if they're shipping now.

I was just notified by a dealer that the ebony 14's are in route from GEC and will ship to customers in a day or so.

Are they doing all the cover variations with single blades before starting production on the two-blade knives? I've been trying to resist, but my resolve is weakening......

I was thinking the same thing as you.. too small of a secondary. I was guessing the secondary would be difficult to open without blade rub because it's so small. I'd end up pushing it into the liner. My other thought was the primary would be easier to open without the secondary in the way. All speculation on my part since the 14 is a new pattern, and I have no idea what the pulls would be like.

The secondary is almost 1 3/4". Its not tiny. It is very usable and helps give the knife a little more "heft".
The secondary on an 85 is just under 2"

R8shell. It looks to me like 1 blades first then 2 blades.

Ram, I'm really liking the size of these #14s. Fits well in the pocket, yet still big enough to do most small jobs. Can't wait to see the 2 blade version, though there are still a few 1 blade SFOs to finish.

Just ordered a one blade in ebony. Still got a two blade reserved in RBB. Is this obsessive? I guess not until I have more than a dozen to match my peanut gallery. Pics when the ebony arrives.

I agree, it's more usable than I thought it would be. Wasn't sure initially because I didn't have one in hand. Now that I do, the secondary is a bit bigger than I guessed it might be. The addition of the secondary is nice, but a bit torn on which is better for my needs. The #14 is a great size in single blade. The 2 blade version is a bit heavier.

I also had concerns about the size of the 2ndary but it is larger than I had expected. It seems to be a good size for a pen blade on a knife of this size.

The spear could be a tiny bit more full. But the folks complaining about rapping the springs may have ruined it for guys like me who want the maximum amount of steel that will fit the frame. I want the maximum amount of room for wear and sharpening.

The spear length is a good size. It's actually about the same size as the spear on a vintage Shapleigh junior cattle... eventhough the junior cattle is a larger knife.

dinosaur shown for scale ;)

Thanks for posting the pictures, guys. They both look great!

Now I'm really excited to see what the two-blade version I've got reserved looks like when it's ready. I hope the wait isn't too much longer. :)
+ 1: beautiful knives and excited for the 2-blade ones [emoji4]

i love that there is no shield to interupt the jigging on these. The 14 is a real comfortable size for me. Cant wait for more blade options. As big a fan of clip points as i am, i think a sheep foot would be spectacular.

Love the 14s. Here's my rust red next to the recent 15s for size comparison

Beautiful knife, jrawk. The lack of the shield is what I've always liked about the #15 Boy's Knives, and I love it on these, too. I've got a couple showing up today. :D
