New GEC #14 Boys Knife

I usually like bone or wood covers, but at the price point I couldn't resist adding a Nifebright to my growing collection

I tried to resist, but it was futile. I love Nifebright. Mine should arrive early next week.

Really loving these #14s. I've acquired "a few" so far :D, with a few more on the way. Waiting until the dust has settled on this release to post a good group photo, but so far I think this one's my favorite.

That is the nicest antique yellow jigged I have seen so far. Congrats! I have one on the way, I hope mine looks like that one.

Appreciate it. The peanut looks much smaller in overall size.

I have a copperhead and smooth white Tc but that antique yellow is calling my name. Very nice btb. Can't decide on single or double but I should really stop.

Thanks for posting the pictures, guys. They both look great!

Now I'm really excited to see what the two-blade version I've got reserved looks like when it's ready. I hope the wait isn't too much longer. :)

Awesome comparison to an actual bruised banana. Thanks fire the pics

Beautiful knife StoneBeard, and great pics. I just got my RBB in the mail and it too is a stunner. Like yours the rotten is somewhat subtle...pretty much like a real rotten banana, but the yellow is also somewhat variegated....really different. Wish I knew how to post a picture of it. Frankly this knife was all I had hoped for. GREAT JOB, BOB!!!

Been a few days since I was able to log in. Thank you all for compliments on both the knife and the pictures.

The #14 might be a little overqualified as a butter knife, but hey, it's what I had (without having to get up and go back to the kitchen).

A question i should of asked before going ahead and ordering an ebony #14 , could someone tell me what the pull is like and does it have a half stop ? I cannot help but think that without the swedge the nail nick coud be a bit further forward. I have both a Tidioute and a Northfield Stag #18 Beagle and though i like the heft of the Northfield i do prefer the blade in the Tidioute which is my EDC , i did carry the Northfield for a week or so but fear of losing it from my watch pocket made me go to the Tidioute , i did see a photo of a well used Stag #18 with a nice patina but have been unable to find it again. Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time to answer my dumb questions.
PS if someone could post a photo of a #14 Lick Creek alongside a #18 Beagle it would be much appreciated, thanks again.

Anyone else found a "surprise" inside their Lick Creek boys knife tube?

Each of my non-SFOs had a slip of paper tucked inside with a vignette of life on Lick Creek written by Lyle Fry.

Wonderful!

The pull on my particular example is a 4 or 5 and has a half stop, it's easier to open than any of my 15's.

Here you are oldmanrunning. Have to say these are comparable in weight, the beagle is a fair bit thicker

Yes, and thank you for pointing it out. I thought it was just liner paper! Mine is titled "The Irish Setter (2)" and the knife is the Antique Yellow Jig Bone.

Here's a question: Is the photo on the tube young Lyle?

Gabon Ebony , a new wood to me.

I ordered a Gabon Ebony, too. I had a Blackwood 15 at one point, and I researched the difference in the two woods and the best I could come up with was they're both types of ebony. I'm no really aa fan of the lighter rosewood-toned ebony, but Gabon is slick and handsome.
