New GEC #14 Boys Knife

I am committed "in some part" to the knife, but not committed to a SFO ,yet..... figure that one out

I hope you do one, it only seems appropriate since it's called the "Lick Creek" boys knife.

Whatever you decide, if you do a run, I'm in for one for sure.... I'm sure many other would be too.

Really I've heard alot about these Bruised Banana covers but ive never seen a picture of one. Can anybody post a picture of one please and thank you

Here's another example.....I have a #14 2 blade in RBB reserved....can't wait! Upon closer inspection, could this be the same knife? Pattern seems to match pretty right on!

Thank you pjake and stonebread I wasn't sure how I would feel about this cover. Its really cool looking :D

Sign me up for a little Barlow Charlie. How about an scratted ancient little one ;-))))

As someone whose eyes fall in love with scratted ancient #15s every time someone posts one, I have to wonder if perhaps Charlie should have waited for the #14 pattern before blessing the Barlow world with the idea...

There's a slight fish-eye flare distorting the knife compared to the ruler but this Furness Barlow (in scratted bone, and probably worthy of the name "ancient" :D) is a skosh past 3 1/16" (.07" = 1.12/16") in length.

If it was good enough for the late 19th/early 20th century, it's good enough for us.

Charlie, give those of us who missed the ancient a second chance. :)

Very cool Barlow! And oh man, I want a size #14 scratted ancient!

I had no idea Rotten Banana was on the menu:cool: Excellent as it is some very nice stuff, at least on my 66, and exclusive. I'm sure it will particularly suit this pattern, it being Barehead .

Brings me to another point: with smaller knives, I feel it's desirable if they have thicker slab scales for grip, my only gripe about the 15 is that it is rather thin and skimpy in the scales dept. The 66 Rotten Banana has thickish handles, my CASE Mini Copperhead, a small knife, has very thick bone and this makes it a joy to use, prevents it from being underclad and toy-like. My Coyote Blackwood has rather thin scales and this works against it in my view.

Regards, Will

I also spy an oily creek SFO. Some interesting options already and some very cool suggestions. I cant wait to see the outcomes.

Good point Will. When I saw the size of the pattern, I thought I'd get the two blade variant for the extra width for the reasons you stated. However, I figured I'd never use the tiny pen blade. Never really have on other knives that have such small blades. So I reserved a single blade in the banana bone hoping that it adds some thickness over the normal wood scales that GEC uses.

So I saw there will be a Rotten Banana Bone SFO of these, that is pretty awesome.

Wow. It looks a lot better than it sounds. I've been on the fence about this knife, but this put me over the edge. Just reserved a two-blade one in RBB. I'm excited! It'll be my first GEC.
