Hopefully very soon...

#48 wharncliffe blades in process for heat treat

No further details other than what they're showing in What's Happening Today for 8/12. Looks like a bunch of different #48s, unless they decide to make a 4 bladed one ;)

More knives to spend my money on. I don't think I can say no to a 48 with a wharncliffe blade.

Some interesting combinations possible judging by the bins of different blades there!

If they do a Wharncliffe trapper on the #48 . . . I'm dooooomed!

I kinda thought so :D

Coonskinner, I'm with you on that. I like their #74 pattern Saddle Trapper, but would prefer one on the #48 frame. So I reground the spey blade on mine in Mexican Bocote, but because of where the nick was placed, it became more of a long sheepfoot than a slender Wharncliffe. Still much more useful than the original, IMO.

Wow! That will be an almost "Must Have" for me! A larger Wharncliff is about the most useful blade I have ever used!

How about a Eureka with a Wharncliffe! Makes me giddy thinking about it!

Aw man, I *just* pulled the trigger on a gorgeous #48 Trapper in 440C from GunstockJacksKnivesandCollectibles.com (thanks, Barry!). Knives with a full length clip and Wharncliffe are my Kryptonite. I might as well just send them the money now, I won't be able to resist it.

There is also a pic with some #48 "hipped spey" blade. I wonder what they are doing with this pattern. We've got a big clip, wharnie, hipped spey and pen blades. Could they possibly use both ends of this pattern or wouldn't the butt end work well for blades?

That's nice. Really nice actually. I like the looks of that a lot but I've sort of promised myself the new Northwoods Norfolk which has a wharncliffe main. I couldn't afford both.

hopefully my dream of a two pen blade #48 will come true ;)
the western trappers had hipped spey blades, I guess there will be a new run of them

My thoughts too. That Norfolk could be the outstanding knife of the year, if......

GEC can be relied on for very decent Wharncliffes.

I haven't heard of that Northwoods. Without derailing the thread, can someone give me some information about it?

I've just been browsing the old releases of #48s and they look so elegant. With a wharncliffe they'll be magnificent, this is torture!
