New GEC #81 pattern!!

I would love to see a two blade jack on this frame! Similar to a Large Texas Jack.

Me too Bob! :thumbup::thumbup:

A clip/sheepfoot would be a great combo for a TJ. Are ya listenin' Bill? ;)

Just in case Bill does have his ears on, an antique peachseed bone with the jigging at an angle would be wonderful on the 81, just saying. :D

I really like the Texas jack idea.

My perfect knife would involve the 82 pattern, make the main clip a bit sleeker, give it a high riding sheepsfoot with the pull on the shield side with a nice punch on the other end.

Personally, I would prefer a Clip/Spey, both full length, similar to a Farm Boy configuration. Call it "The Mountaineer".

I like the idea of a Texas Jack style 81. I also like the Blade Forums proposal knife. I would like to see that added into the 81 offerings.

I guess I'm alone here 😅 but I'd like to see the copperhead bone come back again!!
It's definitely one of my grail knives in my sig line.

It's such a great working knife, I wish GEC would keep it as a mainstay in their production!

It's only 3/8 larger than the Case and a lot more body. I can't feel it in my pocket anymore, or if I can't feel it I feel naked if you know what I mean.

...I agree Jake that if GEC made more of them they would be a best seller. The sheepsfoot on this one rides low, about even with the main blade. I think you would like it....

Yes!

:)

I can't remember the last time I lost a knife. If I did lose one, it had to be 50+ years ago. I had an An Abilene Stockman, Ebony slabs, with Nickel silver liners. I carried it from the first day I got it in KSF leather pocket pouch. Last October it just completely disappeared. I have looked everywhere.

GEC, Please make another run of the 81 Abilene Stockman. I need to replace the one I lost.

Thank you,

Tom

I don't know how many of the Tidioute 81's were made, but there is only a handful here on the forum. Where did they go? I believe the general public will pick up a stockman for a general use knife over anything else.

Here are the GEC production numbers for 2013:

Tidioute #811313

Osage Orange Wood 54 pcs. no #
Red River Acrylic 51 pcs. no #
Stone Moss Green Jig Bone 48 pcs. no #

With the popularity of the Case **75, the Queen #9, and the Schrade 8OT I'm surprised that GEC isn't producing these more regularly. It seems that there is a lot of demand out there for a large stockman. Maybe they see it as something that's already being done and they want to focus on more distinctive patterns?

I love these 81s! They are the perfect, classic Premium Stockman pattern.
They look especially nice dressed in Stag as well. This one sits on my computer desk all the time. I've carried it a few times, but can't bring myself to use it yet! What a dilemma!!

as usual, the unfortunate scratches are on my scanner glass, not the knife - phew!:p

That's a nice looking example of the pattern, Charlie

...but some peach seed bone, plain or slanted bolsters (no pinching please), and a SFO diamond shield would look really good too. ;)

Charlie, does the UnXLed have brass liners or a mix of brass and steel? oyu should use it. A very nice example and rugged as they come.

I would love to see an 81 stockman in ebony or African blackwood with ns liners and maybe D2 or CV, but I could definitely live with the 1095. I've mentioned a badge shield before in this configuration, but an acorn or any shield would work. Maybe a fancy "Premium Stock" etch like the old ones.

An acorn, crest or federal shield would be good. I've had my fill of the hot dog shields. I mentioned Charlie's peach seed and diamond shield with the hopes that he would do a SFO. ;)

Here's an old Shapleigh with some nice peach seed bone handles and a diamond shield. I think it would also look good on the 81.... and the 82 and the rest of their patterns also... ;)

Ebony would be a nice option also.
