New GEC #85 & #66 Moose...Not so thrilled

The one I carry is a springy 5-6 actually. I find that my 440c ones are usually easier to open. I'll have to check my spare though. I think that one was more of a solid 6.

Thanks! I think I can handle a 6. I was worried it was more like a 9 or 10. I will soon have experience with a 6th pattern from GEC. Knife ordered. ;)

Hey Charlie, I get where you are coming from and I would be right there with you if my experience was that bad.
I have had about 40 GEC knives slip through my hands, I have found them to be better up to par, in my opinion than the other knives I've tested.

My biggest problem with Queen is the blade, I love D-2, but I got one and the edge was thick enough to have a tail gate party on. It took me about three years to finally commit to really trying to sharpen it. After hours and hours of work, the edge is okay. It shaves hair nicely, but not as razor as my 1095, or CV. The thing I like about it though, is that I can cut a brick in half and still have a half decent edge. The other two Queen knives I had, they weren't good for F&F reasons.

My Canal streets were not great experiences.
But I don't want to sit here and bash.

This is what makes the world go round though, difference in opinion.

Ain't that the truth. ;>)

I gotta admitt that part of my attraction to CSC is their link to my beloved Schrades that I've used and abused for half a century.
Like you, I do miss the carbon steel though.
I'm hoping the CSC I ordered yesterday with the 14-4-CM steel preforms similarly.
Time will tell.
Charlie

I got a bullet end With some blade rapping. I called Mike at CK.net about it and he said I could send it in but all they would do to remedy it is hone the blade down. I don't have a problem with GEC giving us as much blade as possible. I prefer it. There's plenty of room at the notch and a pretty broad blade here. That said, I use a KME to sharpen and I can remedy the situation in short order. I guess it's just something to be aware of.
