Heads up, the new Wayne Goddard Sprint is reported to be in stock 4-22. I personally had this one pre-ordered, and then changed my mind and decided to get the Delica SB. If they don't sell fast, I may pick one up anyway. I would like to hear from anyone who gets one.

I hadn't even heard of this. large size? what scales and steel? My large frn Goddard is one of my favorite looking spydies.

Here ya go! Although, I personally don't really care for it.

Interesting, thanks. The Wayne Goddard is an amazingly thin and lightweight folder for its size. Under 3 oz for that size is insane, IMO. (in a good way) Though it does make it handle differently in hand, a little blade heavy...

Maybe it's just me, but I think some of these older models with the beautiful hollow grinds and such lose a lot of their visual charm when they go full flat grinds. I know people love FFG, and they're great performers, but they are simply unattractive, IMO, when compared to certain classics that were hollow/saber ground. I do like the little swedge they added to this one, though.

I'll wait for a smaller version with the upscale build quality that comes with a G-10 scale set; in foliage green, of course.

Picked one up today. It was bigger than I expected. I love the feel of it in my hand.

Looks nice, it has a really big butt. Color looks pretty cool. I assume you picked it up at a store?

For those of you who have handled the centofante 3 or 4 and know how ridiculously thin they are, the Goddard is EVEN THINNER. :o for a comparatively much larger knife. Blade is thicker, though.

I don't mind thin, the Stretch is thin, but tall so it still feels the hand nicely. The Goddard looks the same.

At long last, A plain edge full-sized Goddard! This has been a multi-year project for me to obtain this knife. I was lucky enough to buy one of three last Sunday @ OKCA. Wayne was not at his table but I was told that as soon as he returned that he would put serrations, by hand, into these scarce plain edges. He does not approve of plain edges. Knives without serrations aren't his favorite.

C16POD: 8 7/8" overall open, 2.91 ounces, 3/8" thick handle (not counting clip), no jimping at all, Boye dent in lockbar, anatomical grippy pinned handle big enough for me (I wear XL gloves), unassuming color, covert black barrel nut pocket clip, great point, useable belly, plenty of cutting edge, even grinds and blistering sharp.

Great photo IZ.

Yup. My local dealer generally gets at least one of each new model/sprint direct from Spyderco's first shipment. I pay a little more than online, but I get to handle everything and support a local business.

I've been anticipating this one for the longest time, and it would show up when I'm broke. It's been quite a while since I've gotten a new Spydie, so I might just have to thin the herd and bit and see if I can scrounge up the funds.

oregon,

I never realized Wayne was such an advocate for serrations. I can't remember actually seeing them on any of his knives. Of course, I can't say that I've seen too many of his knives as it is.

I had one of the earlier versions of this gray handles. Great ergos and nice blade shape . super light and its not really that big. Millie is bigger. BUT I was suing mine once to cut a tiewrap and when I twisted a bit with the blade under the tiewrap I looked at the handles and the whole pivot area was spread open!! There are no liners on this knife which though it makes it light it sverely reduces strength so it to me is a very light duty larger folder. The knife did return back to normal when I stopped twisting and functioned fine no play or anything so the FRN is resilient stuff. But I sold mine after that incident. still love the design and ergos and would buy one in a second if it had liners like the Endura. Its a better overal design than the Endura to me

Does the new one have liners? A knife that big, I would want liners for sure.

You know, after looking at the fotos of the Goddard, I cannot help being reminded of how those scales look so much like a cheapo Buck "Bucklight" knife I have in foliage green that was being given away at a local LL Bean store a few years back. I really like the Goddard, but gee, couldn't a snazzier set of scales have come with the knife?

That is a nice specimen. Congrats.

I'm sure a snazzier set of scales would have made the price twice as snazzy, making it a potential deal breaker for a lot of people. The volcano grip texture is a functional masterpiece of a work knife.
