New Goddard

Looks nice. Since it doesn't have the liners, I wish the blade steel is in H1 instead. Not sure if it's worth picking up yet...

I've used the Goddard models for years and never had a problem with them. If you are worried about strength (and you shouldn't really be...), then Spyderco has several other options for you to consider (e.g., Endura, Stretch). Its all good.

Not really too excited over this one.. But, does anyone know of a compendium of all of the upcoming Sprint Runs due? I always feel like I'm forgetting some

i feel like we should have an official sprint run thread to keep them all compiled for people who don't necessarily live on the forums.

I have an uncle and a friend who still regularly carry original FRN linerless Wayne Goddard which I think came out in about 1997 (from memory). I only stopped carrying mine becasue they discontinued them. We all have some on pre-order. As far as the durability of linerless FRN read here. http://www.spyderco.com/forums/show...-with-a-single-Spyderco!-with-Pics&highlight=

I bought one of the same old lightweight Goddards from someone on BF about a year or so ago, maybe more than two years I can't keep track. Carried it for quite a bit actually, liked it a lot. I didn't use it too hard at the time, but I certainly didn't baby it. I would definitely trust linerless FRN to survive any reasonable work you can throw at it.

Good story on that original Endura too. Granted, cops generally don't put their knives through too much, but it's still a cool story.

I agree wholeheartedly! A stickied "upcoming" thread would be great.

Spyderco.com has a page for sprints and exclusives but they haven't updated it in over six months. Also, it was always incomplete. It might take too much effort to have someone from the company to be constantly updating it.

It shouldn't be any more difficult than updating their own internal product sheets.

How I intended to say my second sentence came out the wrong way. Of course the task is simple and is not difficult. The fact that they actually have a sprint/exclusives page means that they did intend to have an official list of these limited releases for the public. The fact that it isn't updated at all and was never complete suggests that whoever runs the website and forums have their hands full with other things.

My first Goddard is on its way, shipping from Meridian, Idaho. Wanted it since it was first announced.

I'm liking everything about it. I dig the bladeshape and handle looks comfortable. Nice ample size yet lightweight. Nice color too. I couldn't resist.

that pic makes it look alot bigger than it really is. sometimes knives look huge in pics other times tiny its wierd. but its not as big as it looks in that pic especially the butt.

still a good knife without the liners but they should have put even partial ones nested in the FRN when you get longer with the FRN I think it is less stiff which is why it works linerless on smaller knifes but above Delica size they should be there.
Not sure what you consider large, or small, but here are a couple shots comparing the new C16 Goddard Sprint with a Delica, Stretch, and Military. Not the best photos in the world, but they do show the relative sizes and were taken looking straight down, so there's no perspective distortion.

Personally, I'd call it a pretty large folder, definitely one of the larger Spydercos.

The handle shape reminds me a little of the Benchmade AFCK though the AFCK is a bit more mongo.

One of these will be in my mailbox soon, it's actually my first real Spydie sprint. I wavered on getting it for a few days but I picked this one to be my last purchase for awhile.

Wow, that is big. I did not realize it was that big, it makes the Stretch look small. At first glance I thought that was the Sage 4. I am back to being very interested again! Good job looking straight down 95% of comparison shots are at an angle and you still can't tell.

oh I almost forgot, this was the knife that taught me tip up carry on a knife with a long handle is far from ideal. I used to be a tip up only guy. But having this long handle stuck as tip up, and the military stuck as tip down showed me just how much more convenient tip down is.

different strokes

Funny you should say that. Cops around here break their knives on a fairly regular basis.

Heh, well there you go. Most cops I know basically only use knives for lunch or stuff around the station. Just comparing to someone in construction or something they don't take near the work load.

I guess its not big to me because it is so slim and I am a big guy with larger hands. Military doesnt seem that big to me either. even the Endura seems like a smaller knife to me. It carries like a much smaller knife its so flat and light . It is a good knife I just wouldnt call it heavy duty because of its size.
