Looks like i spy a steel liner around the lock mechanism, which should be sufficient.

I'm not sure I know what a Cross Bar Lock is. Were the old 885 TacLites Cross Bar Locks? I might have one of those somewhere I could look at. Did any other Bucks have this lock?
