*NGK has processed a refund to me before I even ship out the knife for return, I must say this level of customer service is unheard of just about anywhere online or otherwise*
The original venting:
I've purchased many Spydercos from New Graham Pharmacy in the past with no problems. This past Friday I was browsing their website and you can imagine my excitement when I saw "one" Sprint run Spyderco Shabaria for sale on their website since this Sprint run is difficult to find outside of ebay. So I promptly ordered it for full price. Well it arrived today and surprise surprise, to my dismay it appears used.
Update*** NGK is in the process of sending me a return shipping label and will process a full refund due to me, very good customer service. Although I posted this thread without waiting for a reply from NGK first, but I have repeatedly said in my posts that the knife "appears" used, and I have repeatedly said that I have no doubt that NGK will take care of the situation and that was not the purpose of my post.
However, it appears many on this forum have passed judgement on me for my expression of free speech, whatever happened to the old adage "the customer is always right"? There are even posts suggesting that I must have missed a "used" sign when ordering from NGK because of their stellar reputation, therefore I must be in the wrong.
I would like to thank all those that supported me but this thread has left a bad taste in my mouth. NGK has provided excellent customer serivce, although in this thread they failed to mention that in my email I asked first and foremost for "A REPLACEMENT", failing that I asked for the possibility of a discount or some sort of partial store credit. I have no qualms about returning the knife for a full refund.
The fact is, I bought a knife from NGK, it "APPEARS' used with pictures to prove it (what conclusion am I suppose to draw from scratches on the blade, corners of the pocket clip, LOTS OF LINT accumulation inside the frame, and a Delica label on the box?, and I did say appears used", NGK have provided excellent customer service, and I've certainly been "labeled" and lynched on this forum for "posting too early" even though the post is based on facts.
I can accept the explanation that this knife was damaged at the factory, that a Delica box was reused at the factory and labeled over, and that this sprint run of 800 knives is still for sale at a volume dealer 2 years after it was released and the knife bears all the signs of one that's seen pocket time with the lint accumulation inside the frame and worn corners on the pocket clip (i wiped off the lint on the blade when I opened the box). The knife looks MUCH WORSE in person as alot of the scratches doesn't show on the pic, maybe I should take better pics and ask Sal on the Spyderco forums how such a knife left their factory? I now feel the need to defend myself as my integrity is obviously under attack here.
But what can not be denied is the fact that I did receive this knife in this particular condition under these circumstances from NGK, and regardless of whether if I waited for their explanation or not does not change those facts. It has nothing to do with their reputation, my reputation, or people getting their panties in a bunch because their favorite knife dealer is under some kind of "unjust attack". The fact is this did occur and I don't see anything wrong with me posting a FACT.
Michael Dye, when you receive this knife back please inspect it and come back on this forum and inform us of your opinion on whether it appears used or not to you.
