It does look like a busse but a profile and the knife itself are two diferant things. I read jeffs artciles in tactical knives and ron seems pretty honest if they both say the knife isn't the same i believe them. When can I buy one?

I bet you drive a big truck too, don't you? I bet its a big Dodge Ram, loaded with hi tech goodies and you think it makes you cool. A navigation system to get you to McDonalds, right? Bet you have a DVD system and big off road tires too, am I right?

Basicly, what I am saying RYU, if you haven't figured it out yet, is that you are a fool and a JACKA$$.

Seems Mr. Ferman said it best when he said something to the effect of "how can you look at a picture and say an item is inferior".

I agree, and by the same logic, how can all of you look at that picture and declare it superior?

Yes, I like Busse blades. Yes, I am their moderator. Yes, I await real world results, not conjecture and presupposition. And yes, I hope to see the results of side-by-side public testing.

I didnt see ANYONE declare the knives superior by looking at the pictures... Uh that would be FORKING STUPID!! File that under Thou Protests too much...:rolleyes:

Mike, I agree with your whole paragraph but maybe I missed something somewhere, did someone declare Fehrman to be superior in this thread?

There have been those that declared Busse superior and even used blanket statements to do so, but have yet to show true real world results that it is fact. Public bend and break displays is hardly real world testing. Granted, those tests do prove something but they are not "real world," and fail to even touch on cutting efficiency. Personally I would like to see Busse in a side-by-side public testing at the Eugene Oregon slicing contest. I've never been there and witnessed it but I hear it's a good performance test of blades. Or, why doesn't Busse ever do a Cold Steel free-hanging rope cutting challenge at a show so the public could see the results - another good efficiency test. I agree that neither of these is real world, but they are as real world on that side of performance as breaking and bending is.

The way I see all of this is this latest round of Busse vs ________ debate started when Fehrman was introduced here. It evolved into a lot of blanket claims such as "leader in extreme performance" which is a totally bogus claim (for any maker), since no one knife can be a leader in all areas of performance. Jerry Busse then came on to our forum and said his idea of extreme performance is "non-knifelike" abilities. Zow Wee Batman, shouldn't we be testing something like crowbars and shovels against Busse knives then? If "non-knifelike" is their owner's idea of their blade's distinct purpose, then I give Busse knives more credit than their owner.

Busse knives, in my opinion, are good quality knives. And although they don't fit my uses that well, they do seem to have a good (and probably well deserved) niche in the cutlery market. Why can't Busse just accept the fact that their knives are just like everyone else's since they do some things better than others and some things worse than others. Why is it the Busse fans get so upset when someone new comes into the market and then they want to immediatley challenge and throw around blanket statements? I'm sorry but Busse is nothing special in the outdoor market, in fact they're not even average but that's simply due to the design of the blade.

As I have posted before, when Busse starts making a blade designed for cutting efficiency then it may well be the best out there, but right now they seem to have a huge inferiority complex because their macho knives can't do everything the best.
 
Oh, BTW we're having a Koolaid sale over on our site. Got the compound setup, 5-piece band, a sh!tload of rattlesnakes, and plenty of revival tents to hold the traffic. We accept Krishnas, gays, lesbians, white power groups, black power groups, skinheads, arabs, christians, and anybody else that has a nice purty blade.

Well what can I say...I'm prejudiced. Anyone who has a chaos theory like you do would totally make a mess out of our little organized revival. I did forget hippies and Hell Angels and I apologize for that because they are invited but NO Indians dammit.
 
I still cant figure out why is everybody so upset? I believe it stems from animosity between industry "insiders"

Knives are extensions of your skills. It does not matter if it is a Busse, Fehrman, Tops or any brand for that matter.

Can one knife do it all well for ME ? No, and that is why we (I) need a variety of brands and styles.

If Fehrman knives are not made well or marketed well they will fail. So give them a fair chance to prove themselves either way.

What is really unecesary, is nasty personal attacks.

Trying to tear someone down with your keyboard is unacceptable, rude and cowardly.

I agree that nothing but opinions can be made from looking at pics.

Time and use will reveal facts.

No problem amigo. You are absolutley correct, time and use will reveal facts. To me it doesn't matter who the manufacturer is. I will support their product if it works.

There's been so much going around lately that it's easy to get one thread confused with another ;)

Then, all of a sudden we have Simonich Indians - that is a breed isn't it :) jumping on here with their feelings hurt for not being invited to our revival. What's the world coming to :D :D

When I'm done with the test I can take it and use it to put under the leg of this desk I have that isn't quite level but was given to me by my sister and I can't burn it.

I started reading this from the checking of new posts. I normally don't read in this forum, but I may in the future. Just not in threads like this one. I like knives. Period. There are some that I like more than others.
Ryu, you are way out of line.
Even if you had a valid concern, your conduct negates your arguement.
