Great Job! One suggestion would be to place the tension handle vertically. That way you will have better leverage in compressing the spring.
Nice work.
Stacy

Hi Stacy,

I think you are right. I find I place my hand very close to the arm to get a more direct downward pressure on the arm.

Fantastic:thumbup:! I wish I could have one like this myself! How long did it take you to put it all together?

I didn't keep track of the time it took. It streched over about a month working here and there after I worked out the design. Probably around four 8hr. days. at most.

Thanks to you Rob for your inspiration to so many of us out here. As you noticed my unit is based around your great design.

Wow!! that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside....
..what a wonderful compliment....thank you.

I have been getting materials ready for building one and I may have to change my design ideas after seeing what you have done. That looks great.

Welcome to BF and seriously good looking machine.

That looks really nice !

You must be good at welding.

Henrik

Hi Henrik,

I was a welder by trade 25 years ago but I haven't forgot how to weld. I'm just not as good at it anymore. This design does not require that you be a good weldor though. Just square everything up and don't over weld it or things will start warping on you. A little less is better here.

So then you adjust the belt tracking with the top wheel which looks to be attached to a door hinge and the threaded hand wheel?

There is a 1/4-20 nut welded on the side of the arm behind the hinge. The hand wheel is attached to a threaded rod and the rod protruding from the nut pushes on the back side of the hinge thus pivoting the tracking wheel. It seems to work just fine and is easy to make.
