New Information Needed on the 2016 Forum Knife!

Personally, I like the darker colors on jigged bone. It does lighten up with use. Im definitely not a fan of plain yellow.... antique yellow is fine, but rotten banana is pretty darn close to yellow rose. I wouldn't mind seeing Burnt Orange, the color of this Harvester. I can already see a couple of worm grooves in this handle!

This, in my NSHO, is the best jigging GEC has done to date. We should be so lucky to have this year's special knife wearing pants this nice..

Spear Blade
Long Pull
Carbon
Deep Jigging like Cattaraugus
Grooves like Cattaraugus
Color of Dark Cranberry
The lack of depth of the jigging and light color of the Cranberry on the 98's is not what I would like to have.

Sarah, maybe I can help you here. Since this is again, a new pattern, GEC should call this bone something new as well.

Charlie, if you can, maybe try to convince GEC to call this "Creek Bed Jig Bone". I hike a lot in the Allegheny National Forest and surrounding areas close to GEC. There's many small streams that get crossed in a day's hike. If you look at a dry creek bed, it contains the sharp pits, smooth spots, shallow grooves and random depressions that we are all hoping for on this knife.

Not only that, but being a Scout knife, Creek Bed Jig Bone fits perfect with the camping and hiking theme of which this knife will accompany many of us on our trips.

"Creek Bed Jig Bone" :thumbup::thumbup:

(I like it)

creek bed jig does have a certain ring to it-like water it flows into your hand, waiting to be used : our Creek Bed Jigging once you pick up one you'll have to collect more, like stones on a beach:) for all that, yeah i really like it
thanks, Neal

Any new info about timing of the forum knife?

I havent heard from Charlie directly in a few weeks. My guess is that he is tied up right now with his 98 SFOs on the verge of shipping. I would expect another poll or two, but obviously he is the one who dictates all of that.

I had a PM from Charlie this morning, he is just busy :)

Newbie here. My second GEC knife is on it's way to me now and a third is waiting on production. I have had a pocket knife in my pocket since I was a young boy so I am not new to knives in general but I am new to your forum. How do we get to participate in this new "forum knife" when it comes to production? Is there a pre-order process or a sign-up sheet?

I think there's a more detailed version in the early pages of the thread but the gist was to follow the thread through the discussions and poles until a final decision is reached. After that an order will be placed based on the factories capabilities at that time and the projected interest. I believe there is an ongoing spreadsheet tracking estimated numbers. Once that all takes place there will be instructions on the pre order process. So far it's making some great progress and is shaping up to be a very unique and outstanding knife! Hope this helps-

Thanks StoneBeard for the info. I joined the Forum today as a paid subscriber so I look forward to seeing the product and perhaps making a purchase.
