A buddy of mine wanted a kukri designed knife. I tried for quite a while to design something that closely resembled a kukri with no success. I just couldn't get the angles and sweeps the way I wanted them to look. So I designed what I think is more of a tactical kukri. I'm not really sure what to call this design. The name of the knife is "Impartial Judgement." Tell me what you think.
Cut out of a saw blade.
15.5" long overall
9.5" blade
2.5" wide at the widest point
.125" thick

Here's the initial layout and design.

Thanks legato. I'm super stoked about this one. I'm hoping that it will go through 1.5"- 2" tree limbs with a single swipe. I wish I didn't have to wait til this weekend to work on it some more.;):D:thumbup:

Awesome mate,

I love people having a red hot go!

Keep it up and post more pics of your progress.

Whoa dude!!!! If you had curved the back more you could have used the existing saw teeth for some mondo killer jimping or, well, saw teeth.

I like the looks of that design. The lines "flow" nice and should do all you want it to.

Thanks Paul. I still haven't gotten to work on it anymore. I have to my grinding outside and the weather just hasn't been cooperative. By the way, the last skinner I made, I took your advice and put a lanyard hole in it. My father-in-law was super pleased with it. He actually teared up. That felt pretty cool.

Can I critique something? I really like the knife, but the handle seems huge in your hand. This could also just be the way the picture makes it look.

I think it's clearly a stubby machete.. but whatever you end up calling it, that design is a bucket full of WIN!

Thanks for the compliments. The handle really isn't too bad. I made it a little long so you can either choke up on it for more control, or move your hand to the back for more power. It feels awesome in the hand.
I kinda like the stubby machete name. Hmmmmmm.

Finally got to work on it some more. I can't use a grinder in my garage due to the dust, but that doesn't mean I can't use files. Much slower though.

Thanks Calvin I appreciate that. Keep the pics coming as you progress I will like to see how this one turns out.

Got the bevels on one side pretty well done. I couldn't leave it alone Sunday night and worked on it for another hour after I posted the last pic. This is how it sits now.

:D

Got some more done this morning before work. Filed in the right side bevels some, and got the jimping pretty well knocked out. Hopefully I will be ready for sanding in a couple more days. I've decided to call this model "Torrwr Ensygr", which is welsh for "Bone Cutter". Enjoy these latest pics.

Thanks guys!! I can't tell you how much that means to me. I would like to do black micarta or g10 for scales, but I can't afford to buy anything right now. I have an overabundance of walnut that is at least 25 years old and that's what the client wants, so that's what it will get.

This is a very cool looking knife WIP. Subscribed.
