New Knife Design: recurve tanto, bowie, zombie smasher, knife apocalypse WIP

Interesting looking knife, will be quite the beast when it's finished. Any plans to take some pics of it in action?

Oh yes Royal. I'm planning on punching it through a car door. If the tip breaks its gonna suck but the blade seems sufficiently hard nd the blade is edge quenched. Hopefully it'll be okay. Definitle gonna do some chopping with it.

If you can get that on video you'll get a million hits!!! Lol

Seriously, this is a very cool project and Im excited to see it finished. I'll check in tomorrow.

I'm not going to get a chance to finish the handle out until this weekend probably, moore. Work is taking up too much time. Its amazing how many people just have to have a new cellphone right around Christmas!

I promised some updated pics and here they are.

Cleaned up, handle scales on and drilled and partially shaped. It will have brass pins and dual copper lanyard tubes. Scales are local walnut that was sawed off my uncles farm in Ashland, Missouri. The wood is probably at least 20 years old.
Stacy advised me to work on getting the bevels flatter and I tried my best.

I talked to the guy that commissioned this knife today about the finish. He wants me to leave the dark pitting the way it is and then polish the edge bevels out to a mirror finish. Gonna polish the spin out for him too.

OOOOoooooooooo....... I am VERY Partial to that knife!
Dang.
I was gonna ask where you could find a saw blade big enough to cut that from..... and then saw the pix. :D

In 1/8" that thing will really be fast in the hand.

I can't tell you guys how much all the kind words mean to me. I've only been making knives since May, and if it wasn't for everyone on this forum, I probably would have stopped after only a couple. Its your work and comments that push me and keep me inspired. Who knows maybe a Bone Cutter will make its way to the next KITH. How many would like that? I'm hoping to finish the handle out Sunday and then button everything up middle of next week. I'm hoping to finish my bowie WIP too. Cross your fingers.

What method do you use to form your bevels. That thing is awesome. Love the scales. Nice lines. Polished bevels against the rough finish should really add a lot of drama to the blade. COOL

You did a great job. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future bud

The bevels were done entirely by hand with files Tennessee. Took a ridiculous amount of time but the results speak for themselves.
Thanks Wolff, its great to hear you say that.
