Tecate Tecate AZbuckNM AZbuckNM you fellers drew two stunning handles/blades. Congrats. Mine is a bit of a two-faced version. Much lighter than I would have expected on one side and middle of the road on the other. No mindView attachment 1610924View attachment 1610929View attachment 1610930 as I am quite pleased with it as well as the Cherrywood 119 & 105 I received.
Yours has character…you can see the dark to light fade from one side to the other. That’s what’s great about this ironwood run, I think they took all of the odd and end pieces that didn’t “match” and created a special run. All of ours knives look different

I like your 119... I think it has a nice clean "old school" classic look to it  And the Cherrywood knives... fantastic, that's darker and richer in color than any of my Cherrywood Bucks!

I love that two tone light and dark. other ones with patterns are fantastic too, but this one is great to my eye. id be proud to own it.

Question for you guys.....Did you receive a Certificate of Authenticity i.e... "This is one of x amount made" ????
Received my 117 Brahma today.

The Good - overall the knife is Amazing ! The cocobolo is golden brown, with hints of red, and nice grain variation to the wood. And beautiful areas/veins of gold. Could not be happier with the handle.

The Bad - no COA of any kind - very disappointing as they only made 36 of this version. But, the website didn't mention a COA so . . . .

The Ugly - two black discoloration marks on the blade ! Very noticeable - could not be overlooked during quality control (but apparently it was). At first, I thought it might be leather from the sheath. Nope. Took 20 minutes polishing out the marks. I feel like quality control looked at the blade and said, "not worth my time to poish that out". But at $164 - I think I should not have to clean a brand new knife.

And just an FYI - the micarta spacers are black, not red as stated on the Buck website. Yellow box.

The Ironwood on most would be considered just about exhibition grade..If I knew for sure I would get that grade I would order a Custom 112 today. Even tho I swore I would not order a Custom until Buck offered any flavor drop point.

The Cherry twins arrived today and they're a couple of real lookers. Just waiting on the Ironwood 119 and the 212.

edit: if you look very closely at the 119 you can see that the spacer DOES have a slight reddish tinge to it. The 105 appears to as well but I'll need a magnifier to know for certain.

Jeff... you're really going to like that Ironwood 119 when it finally arrives, they are lookers.

My 119 Cherrywood arrived today, I was disappointed that the 5160 came with unsightly black stains/spots on both slides of the blade. I realize that staining is to be expected with 5160, but not before I get to use it  The 5160 117 that I ordered with my 119 Ironwood also arrived with black spots on the blade as well.

Same issue for me - see post #68. Two very obvious black spots - quality control is sleeping on the 5160 inspections.

What did you use to get them out?

I tried a metal polishing paste, but they are not light surface stains and what I used can't handle it.. unless it's a matter of just keep working at it with the polish.

I used "Simichrome Polish" - and an old white tshirt. A little paste goes a long way. The key is to cut up the shirt into small pieces (whatever size you are comfortable working with) - Constantly use a new piece / side. Pieces will turn black right away as you polish (don't keep using a grey/black piece of cloth). Took me 20 minutes or so (maybe could still use another 20 to completely remove all traces of the marks).

Careful to not cut yourself. The polish will fade/take off most text (text that is not stamped) - so be careful if the text is important to you.

If the marks are not pitted, then polishing time and effort should remove the marks. Or send it back to buck to fix - Call, photos, free return label.
