New listings on The Knife Connection

Oh I see. We might be able to work something out yes I grabbed two last week. I might trade one and sell the other.

In my opinion they are Andy's best EDC So I understand your determination.

Stainless tuxedo?

I was really surprised to see the scandi one in there!...

Me too! I never really understood why that particular knife didn’t sell when first offered for sale here on the forum:

2013 1115 013 – Bushfinger (one of the last Scandi’s!), Stabilized and dyed Lacewood over black g10 with a lime green g10 pinstripe, SFT Tang, Scandi on 1/8” thick 3D Spalted 01 steel

So I figured I would give it a home this time around ;).

Man, was out of town until late last night. I knew dealers were getting new inventory around this time, was hoping they wouldn't get things listed until next week!

Regular price: $497.50 Sale price: $349.95

Really?

Yeah. I was going to bite my tongue on this, but they have a knife I really like up there... Problem is that their "list" price is almost $300?!?! over the actual cost of of the knife itself... Even at their "sale" price (with a generic ~$30 sheath) they're still about $100 overprice... Its a shame.

Now granted this is 100% their perogitive as an independent business to price as they wish, but I would never in a million years buy a knife at dealer cost , tack on $200+ and a generic sheath and honestly expect someone else to buy it without geting called out on it first...heck, at some of their advertised prices you're almost to a second fiddleback  (ex. price $562 sale $392... We're not talking about a camp knife here folks)

Nonetheless, it's a real bummer as they got some really nice knives in!

I agree 100%. Marking up a knife to put it "on sale" at a price that's still higher that typical retail means they won't have any of my business. They can do whatever they want of course, but this is bad form imho. Back when I put myself through college I worked for a national retailer (I was the top china, silver, crystal specialist lol) that was actually sued and majorly fined for this practice.

I like TKC. But the pricing is confusing. Some are priced fair. For example, on one of the smaller blades the sale price is $241, which is $16 over Andy's price but it includes a sheath. So to me, that's fair. But then on one of the larger models, the sale price is about $54 more than Andy's price. So how is the sheath valued at $16 on the small one but $54 on the larger one? On wjt's example "(ex. price $562 sale $392)", I just have no idea how they are coming out at that price.

Their prices are funny. That could be the reason why their last batch stayed stagnant for so long. I remember they had around seven different Fiddlebacks that never sold and then over night they went down to a Woodchuck. I doubt someone purchased all of those blades at those crazy prices. And for the person that did, there is Wasp in the flea market right now: retail price- $549.99 sale price- $270.:D

I agree that some models seemed high. The Duke I bought was in line with the recent one on Friday..considering the dangler sheath. I will update everone on my thoughts of the sheath when it arrives.

I would not pay attention to the retail price....pure sales gimmick to get people who don't know the actual pricing structure.

Dale Stoops is the owner and main contact at TKC, and I've personally had good interactions with him via e-mail. He's quick in his replies and certainly helpful if you have questions. Many of the other knives they carried have been fairly priced (e.g. BHK, etc.), but I think they've always made the "regular price" (whatever that means) look very high. Seen such practices from other online vendors in the past, and it is a bit of a turn-off, but at the end of the day, we have the freedom to decide whether we want to pay for that markup or not.

Ha ha that made me laugh out loud! Thanks!

It did seem some were priced fairly and some were quite high, maybe he was in such a rush to get them online, he got some numbers messed up! Dale is a nice guy, I really can't see him gouging us; it has to be an honest mistake!
