New listings on The Knife Connection

I can honestly say that Dale is one of the best in the business at customer service. I have order many products from him, he has scary fast shipping, and will go out of his way to make sure the customer is taken care of.

+1 - I’ve had nothing but great experiences dealing with Dale and the-knife-connection.com.

Update (although I said that I wasn't going to post anything else in this thread):

TKC is serious about customer service and attracting new customers -- it looks like they have made some adjustments on their site (potentially) based on feedback in this thread. In all fairness, given their willingness to adjust their pricing I decided to pull the trigger on the Nessmuk of my dreams (see my trade thread post from a while back if you don't believe me!). So, they've won a customer for life (out of me) and I felt that it was my due diligence to let everyone know what lengths they went to make this right.

In my case the FBF knife I purchased from TKC was originally offered for sale by Andy here on the forum in late 2013 for $255.00.

In calculating the knife’s worth I factored in the 10% increase, which would bring the cost of purchasing the knife today to $280.50.

I paid $303.95 for the knife with a quality leather sheath, which worked out to be $23.45.

Seemed fair to me.

Please understand that I do not intend this to be a reflection on Andy but I have to address this since you are questioning me. The retail/selling price for that knife on the invoice from Andy is quite a bit more than $315. I get my dealer discount from the retail/selling price and and do a consistent markup on each one making my selling price in line with what he sells them for and other dealers).

It could very well be that Andy made a mistake on my invoice so I will check with him.

I would like to make a suggestion... If you have a concern about something that any dealer has on their website, please contact them directly. Most of the dealers that are on BF and other like forums are good, hard working people and they are not out to take advantage of anyone.

Thanks!

I forgot that Andy just raised his prices. But make sure you look at his 01 prices not his Cpm154 prices.

Looking at the scales a bit closer, I think you have the stainless version but yet you have it listed as 01. I could be wrong though.

Dale has really gone out of his way to take care of me! He's a super nice guy! I've emailed and called before and he has promptly responded and is great to work with!

I have to say, I bought two knives this weekend from him. The prices, I paid, were right in line with everything that I have seen.

Thanks Dale!!!

Dale dropped me a note with the following -- definitely a good guy

"I checked into the pricing on the knife in question and discovered that I indeed had made a mistake on the pricing. I am somewhat embarrassed to tell this but my 54 year old eyes read a 2 as a 3! I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused!

Is anyone else out there fighting getting bifocals?

Thanks!

Dale”

I am glad it is resolved. I have been impressed with everyone involved with the Fiddleback portion of the forum. Bunch of good guys!

Glad I found this place!!!

Sounds like this was all a mistake. Those happen every now and again.

Dale, I didn't mean to publically bash your business or you. If I came off as such, I apologize. There have been some excellent comments by members that I respect and trust, backing your business and you personally. You must be doing something right. I just got confused with the prices, that's all.

For what it's worth as I'm new here, but I've bought quite a few knives from TKC the past several months... Some of them fiddleback.

Me personally am incredibly busy with work during the day and I can't keep refreshing for the Fiddleback Friday and usually miss the buying opportunity. I would tend to think that Andy's knives for sale on the Friday threads are great prices, but remember you are buying direct from the manufacturer. Don't you think Andy sees value in having independent dealers carry his blades to reach a broader customer base? I think having a small mark up at TKC is totally worth it for me, otherwise I'd always lose out to the sharks.

No problem Joe! Communiction is the key. I just don't want any missunderstandings and for everyone to be happy whether they deal with me or not.

Thanks!

Thanks for posting this. I tried for about an hour to respond to xxwtjxx and the page kept timing out and not working but I am on a different computer and it seems to be working.

My experiences with Dale have been great and this just reinforces my belief that he is top notch. Mistakes happen but when they can be discussed openly and worked out, then that is what customer service is all about.

As mentioned before, I like TKC. I've purchased from Dale before and have had only good experiences. But I was confused on some of the prices on these, while others seemed fair. Certainly I thought the price was fair on the one I have on the way. I'm glad Dale got to chime in on this and show new customers that his customer service is top notch.

Dale, communication is indeed the key. Thanks for taking the time to post and clear this matter up.

I also was fortunate enough to obtain a Scandi Terrasaur from a member that felt that his hands were too small for the handle. I have read the criticisms of the Scandi grind on some of the Fiddleback models such as tall blade designes like the Bushfinger. But I have to say that in my opinion, the Terrasaur has almost a perfect blade shape for a Scandi grind. I am well pleased with my example. I am almost afraid to use it now due to the apparent scarcity of these knives going forward. But it sure does have a very keen cutting edge. I am aching to put it to work.

I agree with the assessment of the Terrasaur as well suited for a scandi :D

Hello Joe,

Thanks for this post. It prompted me to investigate further and the Fiddleback Forge (Andy Roy) Custom Bushfinger (Partial Convex Grind) Fixed Blade Knife w/ Glow-In-The-Dark Green Handle & Thin Black & Thin White Liners - #20, IS made from CPM 154 steel so that explains the higher price. When doing listings, we often "copy and paste" to save time and occasionally there are things that need to be changed but get missed. I have corrected the information on the website.

I apologize for any inconvenience this mistake has caused.

Thanks!
