New members...is this a 'gang'???

I would still like to know where the 'gang'??? comes into play as the OP wrote in the title.

With all due respect to new members; while most newbys are not trolls, almost all of our trolls are newbys. So understandably, those who come in loud are scrutinized, until we figure out whether they are the latest reincarnation of one of those likes living under bridges.

I can still recall when those with over 100 posts earned the coveted titled "Senior Members"...has it really been that long!

I think he's talking about the Paper Wheel Mafia.

what is this "paper wheel mafia" you speak of? i have no knowledge of it....

OP, take it easy, feel out the group dynamic and go with the flow. enjoy yourself

Aren't we more of a mob than a gang?
Or a Group instead of a gang?
Or a bunch of knifeknuts instead of a gang?
Or a Community instead of a Gang?
But if we are a gang can I wear one of them 1% patches on my Goretex windbreaker, I will cut off the sleeves?
And the name of the gang would be???????

BladeForums Bastids.......

We all ride goats instead of Harleys. But we only ride them in a figurative sense. :p

Seriously, the General "KNIFE" Discussion sub-forum can sometimes be a 'catch-all' with many threads and questions that do not belong there (perhaps like this one) and many other questions which can become very repetitive getting posted by newer users who have not learned how to navigate the site. If you look at the number of active users in that particular corner of the forums it usually dwarfs all of the other sections which is where all of the good info is. Most people who frequent the site are quite friendly and are beyond helpful. Every person is unique however and a few members have some quirks. Take some time and get to know them and I am sure you will find that your enjoyment of this site will exceed your expectations. Welcome new people! -DT

In the words of the late John Belushi, "It's not a gang! It's a club!" A synergy of oxygen breathing bipeds making the internet a better place to be.

I am not new to knife collecting, over 40 years, but I am new to the knife forums. My experience has been mostly positive and for the most part I have been treated with respect and in many cases kindness and warmth. I have received the best treatment by far on Blade Forums. If you cannot get along here then maybe forums are not for you.

Sure I have stubbed my toe a few times but I have received guidance not condemnation in those instances. I have read several good quotes in this thread that apply not only to forum behavior but life as well. Being a Hannibal, MO raised fellow I particularly like the Mark Twain quote. A good knife person quote is "Think Twice, Cut Once" by Chris Reeve. He had knives in mind I am sure but it would apply equally well to the use of brain and keyboard.

I think for the most part all that other forum users and administrators expect is for you to follow the forum rules, follow a few of life's rules and engage your brain before the keyboard. This also includes doing a little research before posing questions. Do this and you will have an enjoyable experience.

im a newb myself, and have been learning a lot from the forum. I have been trying to exercise 'search' as much as possible but so far mixed results (its too easy to get distracted on a different topic). Im not sure how to interpret this, maybe the topic doesnt exist or is outdated, but I certainly dont want to clutter the board. Lessons: use the search first, than think if the forum will benefit from the discussion or just you
