A lightly blasted CF would be great. I would also stick with a liner lock. That stays true to the original. Besides, Spyderco has some of the best liner locks in the business.

Neat.
edited 'cause I sounded too pedantic the fist time 'round![]()

By this, are you saying that you are looking at a different lock, say a Compression Lock or are you talking about an improved locking liner system that precludes the need for the eccentric pivot?Sal Glesser said:Hi Bob. Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Thanx fer visitin', appreciate. This is a very knowledgable group. They know quite a bit about your knives.
On the Starmate,
The pattern would remain the same. I think improvement would be difficult![]()
We would re-engineer the lock to the latest geometry. Sorry Ted, the eccentic would have to go. We've advanced the design to the point where we don't think we need it any more.
I agree 100%I would prefer to go with an "open spine" in place of the full back spacer, opinions?
Fine.Blade material would be S30V.
I had said that G-10 or FRN would work for me, but the truth is that I would MUCH prefer G-10 for balance purposes. Unless I am very much mistaken, FRN scales would make the knife incredibly blade heavy.Handle material is open.
As I said, I really liked how my C-19 matched my C-15 in every detail but size and that would appeal to me in the Microstar. But I do understand the economic necessities and, so long as it very closely resembles its big brother, I would still be very happy to buy one.On the Microstar, We would have to work with Bob to "Spyderize" the blade to fit the hole.
Easiest would be a VG-10 lockback in Seki. Thoughts?
