New MIM clip now available from CRK

I removed several clips to use inserts (for a sheath) and most clips were hard to remove. If you have a new clip and it goes in hard I expect it will be hard to remove and potentially break when you apply some force to remove it. I think I am going to wait and see how people like these over time.

If you bent the old style clip you could remove and rebend it back. You are not going to be able to do that with the new MIM version.

I appreciate people trying them out and providing their feedback.

I am not sure this is an upgrade for me.

What is the benefit, to the knife owner, of MIM vs the bent metal or a milled clip.

It seems like a manufacturing process that is cheaper than milling and might allow smaller production runs, maybe offering more choices, but I assume that a milled clip would be preferable.

Larger runs.. Like 10-20K MOQ typically.

MIM is basically 3D printing Titanium right?

Unfortunately, I feel the same about these as the new 31 Sebenza…lacking.

But I’m just old school. 😎

Edit to add: Sucks to see that there is at least one broken one…aside from my feelings on the new clip…I do wish CRK a long and successful continued run. Love all my CRK’s.

Benefit to the knife owner in this case is purely aesthetic.

CRK has had the best pocket clips in the business for over 35 years.

I do have to say that while I have always said CRK clips are some of the best in the business, after carrying this one for the weekend and using the knife some, the new MIM clip might make the knife feel even better in hand. I really like the flat-top profile. If I don't break it from regular use in the near future, all my Sebenzas might get the upgrade.

This is the reason I use the Millit clip…comfort. Ahhhhhhh. Lol.

Hmmm... I need to try it. Still, I can't see anything wrong with a classic clip or even without one in a sheath on my belt.

I’m gonna join with the curmudgeons here. Why mess with perfection? The old stock clip was, is, and always will be, perfect. This being if your only two points of measure are functionality and durability. Options are nice to have, and cool looking clips have their own value, but I would say the tried and true is still the gold standard in pocket clips. I will miss it if it’s discontinued.

So you cannot bend repeatedly , the MIM type clips ?

IMO ,that's not better . I must be missing something ?

What's up with all the MIM stuff suddenly now ?

To be clear - I like that look of MIM clip and will try it for sure. It’s a nice change aesthetically, but functionally it’s still just a clip. I’ll put it on some newer CRKs, but on Regulars I’ll stick to old design for a consistent look.

Regarding bending… maybe it’ll bend easier when heated with a small butane torch? I have no idea, just thinking out loud. I know that heated regular Ti can be easily bent without any structural damage.

Anything cast, MIM, CNC'd etc. is not going to be happy about bending. You may get one bend out of it but you may not get it to go back.

So if you tend to either bend a lot of clips by bumping into stuff or like customizing the tension you'll be in the danger zone with these.

They look good, and I wouldn't have a problem spending the money, but I just don't think they'd work for me. I like to "adjust" my clips from time to time.
